On Instagram, Selena Gomez is trying to keep the summer vibe alive. La’Mariette’s Instagram account featured the singer, who wore the brand’s Caroline bikini top. She appears sun-kissed and beautiful with four white flowers in her hair:
When Theresa Mingus, Gomez’s longtime friend and former assistant co-founded the clothing line, she enlisted Gomez as a model. Selena’s one-piece went viral after Gomez tweeted a selfie of herself in it showing off her kidney scar.
In a photo posted on the brand’s Instagram on September 4, she also modelled the Caroline bikini top and bottoms.
One-piece photographer Mingus spoke to ELLE.com earlier this month about that shoot. It felt “so fantastic,” Mingus said, to witness Selena Gomez exuding confidence in La’Mariette’s one-piece. “Because I snapped the image, it’s funny to me.
She had a clear idea of what she was going to do next. My first photograph of her was this one. I took ten, and it was the first one I did. ‘ ‘That’s it,’ she exclaimed.”
“‘I’d like to talk about my scar,’ she said. It has to feel organic to me. It has to be natural,’ he said “Mingus carried on. “In fact, that was the suit she had in mind for herself. After working all day, she said, “Hey, I think after this, we should go home and conduct a small picture session.” Okay, that’s alright with me. She’s always there to lend a hand.”
The story was inspired by a vacation to Newport Beach that Gomez and Mingus did together “”Day Trip” print of the bikini Gomez is wearing in the new photo, Mingus told ELLE.com, “We [Selena and I] were vintage shopping and we found all these wonderful suits.
When she saw the costume, she said, “You need to make one of them.” After that, we had a blast on a boat. I had fun, but that had been a nagging thought in the back of my mind the whole time. I didn’t want to do it at the time because it wasn’t the correct time; it was too much work. I had a feeling it would be fantastic if we executed it the correct way.”
Mingus told ELLE.com that Gomez and he went to Newport Beach together, which inspired the “Day Trip” graphic for Gomez’s new bikini. When we went vintage shopping, we came across a lot of great suits.
There should be something like this, or at the very least something similar, that you make. After that, we enjoyed a wonderful day on the water.
Everything about it bothered me, yet it was a lot of fun. My aversion at the time was due to a lack of appropriate timing. As soon as we got started, I knew how wonderful it would be.
