Sunil Mittal, chairman of Bharti Enterprises, announced that the company will roll out its 5G service in eight different locations. After announcing four further cities, he announced that New Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru would all have access to Airtel 5G. The remaining four cities’ names are currently being kept secret.
He also said that by the end of March 2023, the company’s 5G service would be available in all major cities across the country. If you’re wondering how to test out Airtel’s 5G service and what you’ll need to do so, we’ve got you covered with our comprehensive tutorial.
Prerequisites to Use 5G Services on A Smartphone
Users must be in a coverage area for 5G networks. Airtel has stated that 5G is only available in areas with dedicated 5G towers at this time. Those 5G services can only be used on a smartphone that is 5G ready.
Most newly released cellphones under 20,000 nowadays meet the requirements. It’s also important for users to have an active Airtel connection, which means that their present 4G SIM card is compatible with 5G.
How to Check a Smartphone and Location Support 5G?
Upon the debut of the 5G service, Airtel promised that its customers would be able to use the Airtel Thanks app to determine whether or not their current smartphone is compatible with the new network.
Step to Enable 5G on A Smartphone:
STEP 1 Open the Settings app on a smartphone.
STEP 2 Head to Connections or Mobile network option.
STEP 3 Tap on Network mode and choose the 5G/4G/3G/2G option.
Notably, if the user is in a 5G-enabled area, the device will begin displaying the 5G logo at the top immediately upon switching to 5G network mode.
Which Cities to Get 5G First?
By Diwali, 5G service would be available in four cities: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. However, there will be duplication because only specific areas of the cities would be served.
