Offset’s Death
At 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, Texas, on November 1, 2022, Takeoff was attacked with three gunshot wounds to the head and torso, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. According to KHOU-11 TV in Houston, after a private party had concluded at the bowling alley at approximately 1:00 a.m. CDT, he and approximately 40 other people congregated outside the alley.
Although Takeoff’s uncle and fellow Migos member Quavo was present during the shooting, he was not hurt in the incident. However, reports indicate that he passed out after the gunshot and had to be helped to a vehicle after recovering.
Takeoff had uploaded a video earlier in the evening that showed him and James Prince driving about Houston while James Prince celebrated his birthday. The footage was posted on Takeoff’s YouTube channel.
According to the reports, the fatal shooting was precipitated by an altercation that broke out following a game of dice. His record label stated in a statement that Takeoff was killed by a “stray bullet,” while the head of police in Houston stated that he did not believe Takeoff was the intended target of the shooting. Both of these statements were made public.
The Houston Police Department reported that a gunshot that resulted in death had occurred at 2:40 a.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT) and that the victim had been found dead upon arrival while two additional victims were “removed in private vehicles to hospitals.”
After further consideration, the department stated that “we are not disclosing an identification of the deceased victim until his family is notified and ID verification is completed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.” It was later determined by the Houston police department that Takeoff had been killed in the incident.
During the incident, there were also two other persons who were injured, Joshua “Wash” Washington, 24, who is Quavo’s business associate, and a woman who is 23 years old. Both of these people sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
