Although graphic death is nothing new to the Kingsman franchise, a character who was killed off in the second film might yet make a comeback in part three through a retconned tale, which would be a terrible injustice.
The franchise has seen tremendous success since the 2015 release of Kingsman: The Secret Service. There is death in every Kingsman film, whether it be highly humorous or terribly depressing, which gives the series a unique voice.
Although a lot of espionage movies are gloomy and melancholy, Kingsman aggressively challenges that notion.
Eggsy and a group of trainees are followed as they enroll in the training program of the titular organization in the first Kingsman film. A character named Roxy is one of the other trainees. In Kingsman: The Secret Service, she plays a key role in rescuing the world and even saves Eggsy’s family.
Being the only two who finish the entire program, she and Eggsy develop a close relationship. Her part is diminished in the second movie, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, because she is still within a mansion that is blown up early on. Although Roxy was a fully realized character, her death squandered her potential.
Did Roxy Pass Away in Kingsman?
Roxy’s death in Kingsman: The Golden Circle was a mistake because of which the series has yet to fully move on. Given how prominent she was in the first movie, the character’s sudden removal altered the mood of the second one.
In an attempt to fill the hole, other spies were substituted, and some fantastic characters were born out of this, such as Channing Tatum’s Tequila, but none of them possessed Roxy’s sardonic humor and compassionate nature.
Considering the relationship she had with Eggsy in the first movie, which would have made for some intriguing partner work, it was a strange decision to not bring her character back.
Additionally, it seemed as though Roxy’s death was necessary in order to inspire Eggsy as a character. Kingsman is not the first film to do this, and it won’t be the last, but it’s a regrettable and facile way to eliminate the franchise’s strongest female character.
Eggsy’s character was sufficiently developed that he didn’t require the loss of a friend as an incentive to assist in saving the planet. Either way, he would have done it.
The Perfect Story of Kingsman 3 Would Show That Roxy Lived
Reviving the dead is nothing new to the Kingsman franchise. Colin Firth’s character was shot in the head in the first movie. The Statesman, the American equivalent of the Kingsman organization, revived him in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
The precedent that anyone could accomplish it was established by his recovery from the edge of death. Additionally, there have been other characters that mysteriously manage to avoid death. Almost any character can return thanks to these precedents, with the possible exception of those whose brains have burst.
Roxy was never depicted as dead among the building’s debris. Before the building exploded, the film just showed her sleeping in bed. Even while this seems quite definitive, nothing is for sure, and there was no evidence to support that.
In fact, the ambiguity of it all seems to go against the Kingsman franchise’s custom of graphic and intricate deaths. There aren’t many details available regarding the third Kingsman film, but if the filmmakers are astute, they will take advantage of the opportunity to reintroduce Roxy into the series.
How Kingsman 3’s Roxy Could Still Be Living?
Kingsman: The Golden Circle never featured a dead body to demonstrate Roxy’s genuine disappearance. Although it may not seem necessary, this franchise need it. The Kingsman films are renowned for either depicting imaginative deaths or, in the case of their simpler ones, reviving them.
One character who might fall into these categories is Roxy. Since the Kingsman’s mansion was designed for spies, it wouldn’t be shocking if guests had access to covert tunnels or fallout shelters at any time. She could have survived in this way, for example.
People in the vicinity of the mansion would have been aware of the attack even if Roxy had been unprotected throughout the explosion. She might have been brought to a medical facility. As has been done previously in the series, she might be suffering from a memory problem.
She might even play a villain in the most recent movie. In addition to bringing an amazing character back to the screen, this would increase the emotional impact of the film. Bringing Roxy back would help make this last episode of the original trilogy as good as possible, especially since there are already a number of Kingsman spinoffs in the pipeline.
