Surrey In England

Various scenes from Midnight Sky were shot in Surrey, which is one of England’s original counties that surround Greater London. The space scenes for the film were shot at Shepperton Studios, located at Studios Road, Shepperton TW17 0QD. The studio, formerly known as Sound City, is now part of the Pinewood Studios group.

The Shepperton Studios are located close to Heathrow Airport and just 18 miles from central London. The property is built around a manor house and has 14 stages, 10 acres of land, and a large studio.

Province Of Santa Cruz In Spain

The province of Santa Cruz comprises the western part of the Canary Islands in Spain. Actor and director George Clooney started looking for filming locations in 2019 and chose Tenerife and La Palma, which are part of the Spanish province. Cielo de Medianoche was filmed on La Palma over four days, during which 200 people visited the island. The crew also relied heavily on local companies for vehicles, machinery, construction companies, and road improvement.

The Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory in Garafia is an important filming location for Cielo de Medianoche, which can be recognized as the great dome where much of the plot was filmed. Visual effects were used to give the impression that the mountains were covered in snow. Other locations in the film are the Los Tilos recreational area, the Llano del Jable, and the Fuencaliente lighthouse.

The Arctic outdoor scenes were shot in Iceland, which was the most difficult shoot. An important but unpredictable element that the crew had to work with was the weather. Although the scenes required difficult weather conditions. They were often surprised by clear skies and good weather. Filming was further complicated by the fact that the scenes included the child actor, Caoilinn Springall playing Iris.

The scene in which Iris and Agustín are separated was filmed in a real snowstorm, with temperatures as low as -40 degrees. Due to the difficult conditions, the scenes could only be shot in one-minute shots because Clooney’s face would be covered in snow. They had to take breaks to defrost their lashes with a hairdryer. Careful preparation was necessary. Especially since the filming window was very narrow. The day ended around 11 in the morning and night began to fall around 3 in the afternoon.
