Ryan Murphy has managed to conquer us over the years with his different series. He brought out our more adolescent selves with ‘Glee’, scared us with ‘American Horror Story’ and made us dance and cry with ‘Pose’. Now, the new King of American television has joined Netflix for what will be his first series with the streaming giant. It’s about ‘Hollywood’, and its first trailer is everything we could expect from it.
This miniseries will celebrate the Golden Age of Hollywood, set in the 1940s but with a plot that addresses current issues. With ‘Hollywood’, Murphy intends to rewrite history and present a new reality in the film industry in which the power dynamics of the time would have disappeared. In the program we will see the different dreams and conflicts of a group of actors and filmmakers willing to do anything to succeed in the cinema.
The series, which will have a total of 7 episodes, has a cast consisting of the faces of David Corenswet (‘The Politician’), Darren Criss (‘Glee’, ‘American Crime Story’), Jeremy Pope (‘The Ranger’ ), Laura Harrier (‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’), Samara Weaving (‘The Babysitter’), Dylan McDermott (‘The Politician’, ‘American Horror Story’), and Emmy winner Holland Taylor (‘To All guys: PS I still love you ‘).
The series is executive produced by creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, along with Alexis Martin Woodall (“American Horror Story”) and Janet Mock, who is also a writer and director. ‘Hollywood’ will be available on Netflix starting May 1.
