Some time ago, Amazon Prime Video had announced that it was working on a spin-off series of the classic Lord of the Rings trilogy. Now, with filming already underway in New Zealand, the production company announced 20 new cast members.

The new Lord of the Rings series is scheduled to premiere in late 2021 or even early 2022. Also, they have already confirmed that it will have a second season.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is considered one of the best in all of history. For this reason, when it came to choosing the protagonists of the series, exhaustive work had to be done: “The world that JRR Tolkien created is epic, diverse and full of heart. These extraordinary and talented artists from all over the world represent the culmination of a search of many years “, confessed JD Payne, one of the executive producers of the show.

The cast already included Robert Aramayo, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh and Joseph Mawle, among others. Now also joined by Cynthia Addai Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cuniffle, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, August Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Ben Walker, Leon Wadham and Sara Zwangobani.

This television adaptation will explore new plots leading up to Tolkien’s Fellowship of the Ring. Details about the plot have not yet been revealed, but it is known that the first two episodes will be directed by Juan Antonio “JA” Bayona, director of films such as The Impossible, A Monster Comes to See Me and Jurassic World.
