Lupine Became A Netflix Smash Hit

The Lupine series would have had a better Netflix premiere than The Bridgertons and Lady’s Gambit.
Without a doubt, Lupine became Netflix’s new big hit. The French series, created by George Kay and François Uzan, is being played in millions of homes around the world. Two weeks after its premiere, the fiction is on the list of the 10 most viewed series in dozens of countries, including Spain. As a result of this, the company ensures that when four weeks have elapsed since its premiere, the fiction will reach 70 million viewers, according to TV Line.

Based on other figures published by Netflix, the Lupine series would have surpassed recent hits such as The Paper House (65 million viewers), The Bridgertons (63 million) and Lady’s Gambit (62 million). In this way, it would become the second series with the best premiere on the platform. In the first place is The Witcher, which would have reached 76 million homes. But once again we are faced with a triumph for Netflix’s international production, as were the Spanish series Elite and La casa de Papel, the German fiction Dark or the Japanese Alice in Borderland.

At the moment, Lupine only has five episodes. He still has to release the second half of his first season. It is a contemporary adaptation of the Maurice Leblanc classic that chronicles the life of Assane Diop (Omar Sy), a white-collar thief who loses his father during his adolescence, after being accused of a crime he did not commit. 25 years later, this character tries to avenge his death, drawing inspiration from the adventures of the fictional character Lupine, whom he admires.

The happiness of the protagonist

Omar Sy, the protagonist of Lupine, celebrated on his social networks this great triumph that the series had worldwide. “ 70 million, it’s crazy! I am so proud that Lupine is the first French original Netflix series to be so successful internationally! That would not have been possible without you ”, he wrote happily.
