The first full season is available on Globoplay, but many fans are wondering: will there be a second season? Check out everything we know!
Renewal and release date
For fans to celebrate, Transplant has been renewed for a second season! Yes, the series will return for new episodes.
CTV aired the first season in early 2020, while in the United States NBC broadcast the attraction in September. However, the recording of the new episodes will take a little while.
In Canada, the second season is expected to open in the middle of 2021. In Brazil, Globoplay is expected to launch the second season in early 2022.
Cast: who’s coming back?
We expect the entire main cast to return in season two. That way, we will have Hamza Haq as Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed, a Syrian citizen who joins the York Memorial Hospital in Canada as a resident. Bash is well versed in the use of unconventional emergency medical techniques, which he acquired during his time in war-torn Syria.
Laurence Leboeuf will return as Dr. Magalie Leblanc – also known as Mags. Meanwhile, John Hannah will also return as Dr. Jed Bishop, the head of the hospital’s emergency department.
Amira, Bash’s younger sister, is played by Sirena Gulamgaus. Ayisha Issa plays Dr. June Curtis, Jim Watson represents Dr. Theo Hunter, Linda E. Smith stars as Dr. Wendy Atwater, as well as Sugita Varughese, plays Dr. Aajay Singh. We also have Kenny Wong as Arnold De Luca, Grace Lynn Kung as Vivian Barnes, and Torri Higginson as Claire Malone.
Thus, all of them should return for the next episodes.
Spoilers: what will happen?
The end of season 1 shows Bash and Amira reuniting with an unidentified Syrian woman. While Amira is elated to meet the lady, Bash pulls the woman into a hug – exclaiming that he thought she was dead. We still don’t know who this character is – it’s not Bash’s mother, but someone certainly close to the family.
On the other hand, Mags progresses in his career, Jed remains in serious condition, but out of danger. Also, June has the option of being promoted to chief resident and Theo has to choose between the dream job and the family.
In this way, the second season is expected to give us answers to all the incomplete stories mentioned above.
