Welcome to all Virgin River Lovers! If you’re here, you’ve likely binged season 1 of the Netflix play, and are operating through the next. (Or have finished watching it–no shame!) By this time, you’ve probably listened to the charms of this fictional small city’s inhabitants, and are desperately wanting more. (Especially after that cliffhanger season 2 finale! ) ) The great news? We’re officially going to get it!
After months of speculation, Netflix announced on December 18 Virgin River season 3 is occurring. The website What’s On Netflix reported back in July that it had been revived, and was expected to begin filming this year. We just need to know when it’s going to premiere!
While we wait for more good news, let’s go over what we can predict about Virgin River season 3.
Netflix has not officially announced a premiere date for Season 3, however, the Twitter movie of Breckenridge and Henderson producing the renewal statement was shot in the show’s set, suggesting that Season 3 may have been filmed and we could be seeing new episodes sooner than expected.
Any spoilers about the season 3 storyline?
This remains the biggest issue! In season 2, fans got a few answers about all of the major relationships in Virgin River, but as most of us know, more answers can often lead to more questions, particularly when it comes to Doc and Hope’s complicated connection in addition to Preacher’s participation with Paige/Michelle’s cover-up. That season 3 will also address the two major cliffhangers in the season finale: What is happening with Doc’s health? Who took Jack?
A number of the newer storylines, such as Lizzie and Ricky’s budding relationship, are just getting started. Showrunner Sue Tenney is very interested in exploring Ricky and Lizzie more at the seasons ahead: “Ricky has an excellent arc in the novels that I plan to explore. We get into a little bit of it in Season 2 but we’ll certainly explore it more in [possible ] further seasons,” she informed TVLine.
Some enthusiasts could be turning into Robyn Carr’s novels for replies, but Tenney cautions they have steered away from the book series in recent events. “Finally, how I look at the series is that we’re likely to have as many seasons since we get,” she continued. “And once we get to this last season we need them to become where [author Robyn Carr] has them”
The above throw will be returning for Season 3, along with Daniel Gillies who will continue to make”visitations” to Mel as her deceased husband.
