The new season is coming!
The team behind The Handmaid’s Tale wants to try a “nomadic” path for season four. And the trailer, which Hulu released on Tuesday, 30, showed a little of what the new season will be like. Including, a long-awaited war.
The glimpse of more than two minutes shows June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) as “public enemy # 1” in Gilead. This is the scenario that has dominated Bruce Miller’s drama so far.
However, the third season expanded the world created in Margaret Atwood’s classic novel, on which the series is based. And the fourth season will continue to do just that.
Leaving the Boston metropolitan area for the first time after a revolt, June and her fellow Aias flee beyond the walls of the totalitarian state that has served as the main backdrop to the dystopian series – until now.
The new trailer, therefore, shows long-awaited encounters and confrontations, as well as a journey full of worries for June. All of this, while she seeks freedom.
Thus, in the final moment, the star formally asks for justice. Then, faces like Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, OT Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel, Bradley Whitford, and Sam Jaeger also appear.
The official synopsis of Hulu calls June “ a fierce rebel leader ”, but warns that the risks she takes bring new unexpected and dangerous challenges, as her search for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.
In commenting on the drama produced by MGM Television, Miller and Moss said that the themes covered in the fourth season will continue to relate to what the country is experiencing in the post-Trump era.
“A lot of this season is about waiting and waiting for things to go back to normal and [asking], ‘Why aren’t they going back to normal?'” Said the show’s creator and showrunner during a TCA panel in February.
“That feeling of ‘When is the world going to settle after things change?’ is something that we cover in small and large ways. “
When viewers last saw June in 2019, the resistance leader was fighting for her life. All of this, after freeing dozens of children from Gilead. However, to get her rescue plane to safety in Canada, June created a detour and took a bullet in the shoulder.
Also, the final scene at the end of the third season showed the plane landing safely while a June was injured and her fellow Aias rescuing her
Miller recently said that while he never considered killing June, the ramifications of his actions put the series on a new trajectory. So, fans should be excited!
“This season, we are delivering everything. We are delivering many things that we have configured and I think it is very satisfactory ”, he promised about the future reward for viewers.
