Showtime’s Billions is welcoming Janeane Garofalo to its cast. Garofalo has received two Primetime Emmy nominations during her career; both were for her role as Paula on The Larry Sanders Show. More recently, Garofalo has appeared in Younger and Broad City. Like Younger and Broad City, Billions is mostly set in New York. The drama show follows United States Attorney, Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), along with his adversary, hedge fund manager, Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis).
Garofalo will be joining Giamatti, Lewis, and the rest of the Billions cast for a recurring spot on the show’s fifth season, She will be portraying the owner of an authorized cannabis corporation, called Winslow. The Covid-19 pandemic stopped production of season 5 March of 2020 using just seven episodes already completed. Those episodes aired in the late spring of this last year, and the rest of the season will air later in 2021.
In the fifth season of Billions, Rhoades and Axelrod still can’t get along, and Rhoades is also clashing with the district attorney, Mary Ann Gramm (Roma Maffia). Asia Kate Dillon’s character, Taylor Mason, and Maggie Siff’s personality, Wendy Rhoades, are notable players in season 5 as well. Brian Koppelman and David Levien would be the showrunners and executive producers for Billions; they made the series together with Andrew Ross Sorkin. Billions, that initially proved in 2016, has already been renewed for a sixth time.
