Top 5 movies on Amazon Prime Video this weekend

No sleep in Seattle

Sleepless In Seattle is another movie starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The first film they starred in was Joe Verus the Volcano in the 90’s and they later starred in You’ve Got Mail and Ithica. These two always have great chemistry.

Sleepless In Seattle is a romantic comedy about Sam (Hanks), a widower who moves to Seattle with his son Jonah (Ross Mallinger). One night, her son calls a radio program looking for a new wife for his father. A Baltimore journalist, Annie (Ryan), listens to the show and realizes that she needs to know more about this extraordinary man.

When Sam receives countless letters from women who listened to the radio show and want to meet him, Jonah chooses Annie’s letter as the one his father should know. This leads to a nice must-see.

The Lunch Song

The Song of Lunch, an adaptation of Christopher Reid’s open, reunites Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson. We’ve seen them together in Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, and Harry Potter movies. Thompson’s husband, Greg Wise, is the executive producer of this film.

This time the couple plays two former lovers who, after 15 years, reunite in what has been called the Love Actually sequel we needed to see about Harry and Karen. The film is 48 minutes long and, as it is an adaptation of a poem, the film is based more on what is not said than on actual dialogues.

Definitely worth the quick watch!

The best exotic Marigold hotel

Based on Deborah Moggach’s novel, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a British comedy-drama directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love).

A group of British retirees decided to move to Jaipur, India, to stay in what is advertised as an exotic retirement home called Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Upon arrival, they meet the enthusiastic manager Sonny (Dev Patel) and a hotel that doesn’t live up to what was advertised.

Retirees make the most of their situation and discover that their lives can be complete once they let go of the past.

Starring Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilton, Celia Imrie, Ronald Pickup, Tom Wilkinson and Maggie Smith. And if you like this movie, there’s a sequel, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Edward Manis of scissors

Tim Burton brings us a wonderful story in the movie Edward Scissorhands. Released in 1990, this film stars many great actors such as Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest, Anthony Michael Hall, Kathy Baker, Vincent Price and Alan Arkin.

Depp plays the title character created by a scientist (Price), but was unable to complete his creation before he died. Edward is left with scissors in his hands and spends his days alone until the saleswoman Peg (West) discovers him alone in the scientist’s Gothic mansion. Peg did what any mother would do; she took him home with loving arms.

Although Peg and her family accept Edward and his appearance, he finds it difficult and ridiculous.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Don’t touch it until you try it. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a great dark fantasy action movie. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and is an adaptation of the combined novel by Seth Grahame-Smith.

The title of this movie tells you everything you need to know. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, is secretly a vampire hunter. As a child, Lincoln’s mother is bitten by a vampire, and he is rescued by a vampire hunter who teaches him the skills he needs to avenge his mother’s death.
