Invincible Season 2 Release Date: Will Mark’s Discovery About His Origin Transform Earth?

invincible season 2 release date

Invincible Season 2 Release Date: Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), a seemingly ordinary high school teenager who also happens to be the son of the world’s most powerful superhero, Omni-Man, was the focus of Amazon’s animated superhero series Invincible, which premiered on March 25, 2021, with a weekly episode drop (J.K. Simmons).

The complications of blending a normal existence with his cape-crusading escapades send Mark on a path of profound discovery and terrible destruction as he begins to uncover his own special skills and ventures forth with his new eponymous superhero identity.

Will There Be Invincible Season 2 Happening Or Not?

Amazon confirmed the renewal of Invincible for a second AND third season on April 29, 2021, just before the Season 1 finale. Kirkman previously told Collider that some extensive development work has gone into sketching out the series, so it appears as if he and his team have already set the story beats for Seasons 2, 3, and beyond.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead) comic book series, Invincible is everything AMC’s hit zombie show isn’t: bright, colorful, and, well, cartoony. There is, however, violence. So much bloodshed.

Exceptionally Successful First Season

After an exceptionally successful first season, Invincible fans have been itching to learn more about the Amazon series’ future.

Given how Season 1 left many plot lines unresolved—for starters, Mark’s father isn’t from a friendly alien civilization, and there was that whole horrific battle between Mark and Omni-Man that nearly destroyed the planet—a there’s lot more narrative terrain to cover.

Who Will Be Appear in Invincible Season 2?

invincible season 2 release date

Given the first season’s storyline and the main characters involved, it’s safe to assume that the majority of the excellent voice cast will return: Steven Yeun as Mark, Grayson/Invincible, J.K.

Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, and Sandra Oh as Mark’s human mother Debbie, who had figured out that her husband had killed the former Guardians of the Globe by the end of the season.

Andrew Rannells as Mark’s best buddy, William Clockwell, and Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennett, Mark’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, are also expected to return.

Even after their near-fatal confrontation with Machine Head and co., the current Guardians of the Globe team-up should still be around: Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode, Khary Payton as Black Samson, Malese Jow as Dupli-Kate, Grey Griffin as Shrinking Rae and Amanda (Monster Girl’s human form).

Ross Marquand‘s Rudy (formerly Robot), plus Gillian Jacobs’ Atom Eve, who ditched the Guardians Cecil Stedman, the head of the Global Defense Agency played by Walton Goggins, will undoubtedly return as he pursues Nolan, and Kevin Michael Richardson, who voices the Mauler Twins, should also return for more malicious genetic tinkering.

We’ll undoubtedly see another cameo from Seth Rogen’s alien Allen, who is a fan favorite.

What Will Be the Storyline of Invincible Season 2?

invincible season 2 release date

Mark’s discovery that he and his father aren’t superheroes, but aliens from the Viltrumite Empire, which sends warriors to conquer planets and terraform them with their “utopian” technology and society will very certainly be explored in the future episodes.

After learning the truth about his father’s origin and purpose, Mark, who is part Viltrumite, sparked a massive feud with Omni-Man, resulting in a bone-breaking, tooth-shattering brawl between father and son.

Instead of crushing Mark’s face in for good, Nolan’s love for his son—a quality Viltrumites regard as an awful weakness—sparked his exodus from Mark’s life, as well as the planet.

The continuous instability on Mars, as we witnessed the parasitic Sequids running rampant, as well as Mark’s complicated romantic life, whether with or without Amber, are two major story elements that will most likely fuel the forthcoming episodes (Beetz).

Most crucially, Invincible learns of an impending Viltrumite Army assault, which will likely complete his father’s failed mission of total planetary conquest.

In response, he grudgingly assumes his father’s position as Earth’s defender at Cecil’s request, while the Guardians of the Globe heal from their combat losses.

Knowing how close Omni-Man came to killing his child before zooming away from the Earth, Mark’s ability to take on his father and his Viltrimites is unknown.

The Final Episode of Season 1

The final episode of Season 1 teased other potential subplots for Season 2. More of the Sequids plot, which hasn’t been formally ended, should be seen. After trading places with one of the human astronauts, we know that a Martian has infiltrated Earth.

Furthermore, the Sequids have taken control of the astronaut who was left behind on Mars, which could spell disaster for Earth if this parasitic race decides to travel to the blue planet.

Integrate Storylines in the TV Program

One fascinating tidbit concerns plot aspects that were never included in the Invincible comic series. Kirkman said in an interview with Beyond the Trailer that he hopes to integrate storylines in the TV program that he couldn’t fit into the graphic novels.

Damien Darkblood, who was exiled back to Hell by Cecil Stedman in episode 4, is one example Kirkman cites. It’s unknown whether this will be included in Season 2.

Finally, Kirkman has disclosed further details about Season 2’s narrative, which could include probably Mark’s biggest comic book foe, Angstrom Levy.

Invincible Season 2 Release Date

On April 29, 2021, the second season of Invincible was revealed alongside the third season. The two seasons have been in development for longer than fans may realize, according to head writer Simon Racioppi.

Invincible Season 2 is expected to be released in April 2023.

Season 2 of Invincible may not be available on Prime Video for a long, but the R-rated animated superhero program has made significant progress recently.

Steven Yeun, who plays Mark Grayson/Invincible in the Prime Video TV series, has begun recording lines for the upcoming season of the show. Okay, voice acting work can start early in the production of a show, so this doesn’t necessarily suggest that Invincible season 2 is getting closer to a release date.
