Loki is a Marvel Comics character based on an American television series produced by Michael Waldron for the Disney+ streaming service. It is Marvel Studios’ third television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it follows the events of the franchise’s films.
The series picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki creates a parallel universe.
Eric Martin and the duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead served as head writer and led the directorial team for the second season, respectively, while Waldron served as head writer and Kate Herron directed the first.
Cast and Crew for Loki Season 2
Returning cast members Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw have been announced. Mbatha-Raw confirmed her return as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer in an interview with GMA(opens in new tab), and Hiddleston informed Jimmy Kimmel(opens in new tab) that the entire cast is back, so expect to see more familiar faces.
Kate Herron, the show’s showrunner, confirmed her departure, saying she had no plans to return for a second season. Herron told Deadline, “I’m really excited to watch it next season as a fan” (opens in new tab). “I’m just proud of what we’ve accomplished here, and I’ve given it my best.”
As directors, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have agreed. They’ll “co-direct a bulk of the episodes for season two,” according to Deadline(opens in new tab). The team is best known for directing two episodes of the Marvel series Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Isaac as a superhero with a dissociative identity disorder.
Michael Waldron and Eric Martin, the show’s first-season writers, are set to return, though Martin will take over as showrunner.

What Happens at The End of Loki 2?
Loki, Mobius, and a TVA unit split off after tracking down the’variant’ to a world-ending event in 2050.
As a tremendous storm rages outside, Loki teams up with Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), and the two quickly come across a lone male who is oddly shopping for plants.
However, when Hunter B-15 approaches to question him further, the guy grabs B-15’s arm and appears to transfer his consciousness into her.
Yes, the Loki ‘variant’ is the one that hides inside the man (and transfers into Hunter B-15).
Before their plot is revealed, the two forms of Loki verbally spar (while the Loki’variant’ continues to transfer into other human vessels to keep things interesting).
The Loki’variant’ plans to activate all of the TVA’s time reset charges at once after stealing enough of them. Multiple timelines will branch off from the sacred timeline, causing reality to break down and, as alluded to in episode 1, possibly leading to a new multiversal conflict.
The Loki’variant’ ultimately discloses who they are — Lady Loki – before putting their plan into action. Yes, a female Loki has been created.
When Lady Loki’s reset charges are activated, they travel across time to numerous dimensions, causing multiple branches to branch off from the sacred timeline. Despite Mobius’ last-ditch efforts to dissuade him, Loki follows his namesake through the portal, apparently to find out who they are.
Season 2 of Loki’s Storyline
The plot of Loki season 2 remains a mystery. Following the announcement of Season 2, Hiddleston (via Marvel(opens in new tab)) indicated that he was “excited about the possibilities” and that the team was in “deep, deep, deep discussions,” but the actor has kept a tight lip since then.
Mbatha-Raw told Popculture.com that she’s looking forward to her character going to “some deeper, darker realms” in the upcoming film.
Ravonna Renslayer was introduced as an anti-hero and a possible love interest for Mobius, but she was eventually proven to be a villain who prioritizes her TVA devotion over anything else.
Ravonna went on her own in pursuit of free will in the season finale. “She’s on a mission to figure out who’s been deceiving her.
That’s exactly what she’ll be looking for, “Michael Waldron, the head writer, added his thoughts. (A new tab will open) “Out there in the Multiverse, she’s a frightening customer. As a result, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
Sylvie, a Loki version and love interest, also sent Loki into another dimension in order to eventually kill He Who Remains in the finale. She is left alone at the Citadel at the End of Time because the slaying does not fulfil her as she expected.
While Sophia Di Martino told RadioTimes(opens in new tab) that she isn’t sure if Sylvie will return, she did say that Sylvie’s farewell scene is “an interesting spot to start another chapter” (via Marvel(opens in new tab)).
Hiddleston was recently asked if Loki will feature in the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder, to which he responded with a defiant shrug.
The actor told Total Film, “I live in a question mark.” “Everything is a mystery. I used to think I could predict stuff like this, but I honestly don’t know. And this isn’t even an Andrew Garfield parody!”
When asked about the second season of Loki, he said: “I don’t know what to say. It continues to fascinate and challenge me on a regular basis.
The story doesn’t conclude at the end of Season 1. That, I believe, is rather obvious. Loki is virtually as unstable as he’s ever been, as volatile, passionate, and unpredictable as ever. And it’s possible that some of it has to be addressed. There’s a lot of material to get out of the way.”
