Umbrella Academy Season 3 Ending Explained: Did Luther and Klaus Die?

umbrella academy season 3 ending explained

Adapted from Gerard Way’s and Gabriel Bá’s comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy is an American time-travelling superhero web series that premiered on Netflix in 2017.

Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater created this Netflix original series, which follows a dysfunctional family of adopted superhero siblings as they attempt to solve the mystery of their father’s death and apocalyptic doom.

Seasons 1–2 are produced by Borderline Entertainment, Season 3 by Irish Cowboy, Season 4 by Dark Horse Entertainment, and Season 5 by Universal Cable Productions, respectively.

It includes Elliot Page,[a] Tom Hopper,[b] David Castaeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, Mary J. Blige, John Magaro, Ritu Arya, Colm Feore, Adam Godley and Britne Oldford.

In 2011, Universal Pictures acquired the film rights and began pre-production on the adaptation. Before Netflix’s official approval in July 2017, it had been shelved in favour of a television series. Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, serve as the filming locations for the series.

The Third Season of Umbrella Academy

Viktor (Aidan Gallagher), Luther (Tom Hopper), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), and Number Five (Robert Sheehan) are among the familiar faces (Elliot Page). Cazzie David and Euphoria’s Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton are two of the many new faces to emerge from the Sparrow Academy.

Our heroes’ alternate universe’s “Sparrow Academy,” an organisation of superheroes founded by a still-living Reginald, was also introduced during the season 2 finale of The Umbrella Academy. Justin H. Min will reprise his role as Ben in an alternate reality alongside a slew of new actors.

Justin Cornwell will play the family’s leader, Marcus, and Britne Oldford will portray Fei, a lonely misanthrope who is usually the smartest person in the room.

Sloane is played by romantic dreamer Genesis Rodriguez, while Alphonso is played by sarcastic comedian Jake Epstein. With only Alphonso as a companion, Cazzie David will portray the reclusive and rarely spoken-of Jayme.

Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube will portray Christopher in the Netflix series. Christopher is devoted, trustworthy, and armed with a giant telekinetic cube that he can use to freeze a room and instil a sense of dread. We now know why the gigantic cube appeared at the end of Season 2, even if it raises more questions than it answers.

The Kugelblitz are defeated at the end of the season thanks to the help of Reginald, their deranged father (Colm Feore). And no, he wasn’t trying to save anyone’s life. Despite his new appearance, he’s still the psychotic maniac you remember.

Allie’s rage subsides long enough to save her siblings, and Viktor decides to trust his sister rather than wipe out his sibling in the hopes of repairing their strained relationship.

Good news: This time, Viktor wasn’t responsible for the destruction of the world! Sadly, this is bad news. However, the world did come to a close. It’s another hard reset for the team, this time without the Sparrow Academy that they dreaded. Without the ability to do anything.

The Third Season of Umbrella Academy

As a result of time travel and other factors, “all the seasons are quite different.” Season three, with this new family and where Season 2 left off, looks to be my personal favourite so far. Robbins elaborated on the matter.

She went on to talk about the new gang that had recently moved into the neighbourhood. Inevitably, there will be tensions. That much is clear… within the bounds of keeping things under wraps… I had a wonderful time.

I think this is the best rendition of Grace that I’ve ever performed… This season, on the other hand, is a complete shock and a delight, and I think the public will enjoy it. “I had a fantastic time.”

They’re going to have a tough season, no doubt. There is no Umbrella Academy and their brother, who is supposed to be dead, is standing right in front of them.

As a result, I expect some changes to be made. We still don’t know how long Hargreeves has left to live… If they can figure out what is happening and how it happened, it’s going to be a great and tragic season.

Now that Season 3 is just around the corner, we may expect to learn more about what Robbins and Blackman are trying to say.

Were Luther and Klaus Killed in The Battle of The Bulge?

umbrella academy season 3 ending explained

They certainly did. Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) fatally stabs his “Number One” son Luther (Tom Hopper) in the chest at the end of season 3’s penultimate episode, “Seven Bells.” Reginald is indeed an extraterrestrial, as was previously revealed in season 2 and is now officially proven.

When Klaus (Robert Sheehan) is about to join his siblings in Oblivion, Reginald closes the portal and tells him, “You’re just more trouble than you’re worth.”

So, that’s what I was getting at.

It’s revealed that both Klaus and Luther have passed away. Fortunately, death isn’t as final as it seems in the Umbrella Academy universe. Klaus recently found earlier this season that he not only has the power to converse with the dead, but that he can also return from the dead.

From beyond the grave, Klaus returns to the Hotel Oblivion and reunites with his brothers. He may temporarily transport Luther with him, but only as a phantom. After a brief conversation with his new wife Sloane, Luther slips away (Genesis Rodriguez).

If it weren’t for an occurrence that we’ll get into a little later, it would have been the end of Luther Hargreeves’ series.
