He contributed to the 2008 Republican presidential primary campaign of Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas. Duggar spoke at rallies in support of Pennsylvania Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum in 2012.

Tony Perkins, head of the FRC, stated that the organization hired Duggar in an effort to attract more young people by capitalizing on the success of 19 Kids and Counting.
He continued, “Josh’s focus will be primarily on strengthening our grassroots around the nation.” Conservative Republican candidates viewed Duggar as a means of spreading their messaging to his supporters when they were employed by FRC Action.

Duggar Sued By Danica Dillon For $500,000 In Damages
Porn star Danica Dillon sued Duggar in November 2015, alleging that they had engaged in consensual sex in a Philadelphia strip club earlier in the year and that he had “assaulted her to the point of causing her physical and emotional trauma.”
Dillon claims that the incident happened after she gave Duggar lap dances for $600. He was being sued by Dillon for $500,000 in damages. When it became clear that Duggar was not in Philadelphia at the time of the alleged assault, Dillon made the decision to abandon the lawsuit in February 2016.

Duggar received a 12-year, 7-month prison term on May 25, 2022, followed by a 20-year period of supervised release.
He must register as a sex offender while under supervision and is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with kids, including his own children, during that time.
His probation officer must give him permission to use the Internet, and he must consent to have his online conduct tracked. He was hit with a $10,000 fine and another $40,100 in special assessments.
