Jamie Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop on December 13, 1967, in Terrell, Texas. Foxx was adopted soon after birth and was nurtured by his grandparents Esther Marie and Mark Talley.
He was not involved in his upbringing and had little to no contact with his birth parents while he was a child. Despite growing up in a highly conservative Baptist household, Jamie attributes his career success to the influence of his grandmother.
At age five, he started playing the piano and was well-liked in his elementary school class for his funny quips. At Terrell High School, Foxx excelled academically while also participating in basketball and playing quarterback for the football team.
He received a scholarship at United States International University where he studied composition for music and performance. The comedian and actor changed his name to Jamie Foxx after noticing that female comedians were frequently called up first.

Comedy Career
Foxx began doing stand-up comedy in 1989 and joined the cast of the popular sketch comedy program In Living Color two years later. He remained on the show for the final three seasons.
After it ended, Foxx had his own program, The Jamie Foxx Show, which ran for five seasons and 100 episodes from 1996 to 2001. It received nominations for many Images, Kid’s Choice, and NAACP Awards during its run.

Movie Career
Foxx made his debut in the comedy Toys in 1992. Foxx also made appearances in The Great White Hype and Any Given Sunday during this period, which led to Foxx receiving his first nominations for an award for his film work.
He received more nominations for his performances in the films Collateral, which brought in $217.7 million worldwide, and Breakin’ Both the Rules Ali (2001), all of which he co-starred in with Will Smith.
Foxx and Tom Cruise’s cooperation on Collateral earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In the Ray biopic from 2004, Foxx portrayed Ray Charles.

Music Career
Foxx is a Grammy-winning recording artist who has five studio albums to his credit. His debut album, “Peep This,” was a critical and financial failure.
His second album, “Unpredictable,” which received a double-platinum certification from the RIAA, was, nonetheless, his most popular. Moreover, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and U.S. R&B charts and at position nine on the UK albums list.
The album has so far sold 1.98 million copies in the United States. Unpredictable, Blame It, and Fall for Your Type are some of his top singles.

Personal Life
Jamie has a reputation for hiding his personal affairs. His daughters are Corinne (1994 birth year) and Analise (b.2009). Corinne, his daughter, is a model and an actress who co-hosted “Beat Shazam” with Foxx.
Following her breakup with Tom Cruise in 2012, Katie Holmes and Foxx reportedly dated for a while before their romance ended in August 2019.
In April 2003, Foxx was involved in an incident in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he and his sister were forced to leave the Harrah’s Casino. Employees at the casino asserted that they did not present identification upon entry.
Foxx was accused of assaulting police officers, evading arrest, trespassing, and disturbing the peace, among other offenses. In exchange for the other counts being dismissed, he entered a plea of not guilty to disturbing the peace.
He received a two-year probationary term and a $1,500 fine as punishment. Foxx saved a drunk driver from a burning car that had wrecked outside his house on January 18, 2016.
