When The Expanse’s final episode premiered on Prime Video last month, it was a depressing day. Like the crew of the Rocinante, the programme overcame several obstacles to survive until the conclusion of its sixth season, including cancellation and a behind-the-scenes controversy.

The programme needed a strong send-off, and “Babylon’s Ashes” delivered just that. However, it is obvious that this is not how the narrative ends. There are nine novels in The Expanse book series by James S.A. Corey (a pen name for writers Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham), the latest of which was just published in November 2021. The conclusion of the sixth book, Babylon’s Ashes, which serves as a turning point in the narrative, was adapted for the season 6 finale. Naren Shankar, the show’s creator, has commented about the choice to halt production before they ran out of content.

Laudable Laconia

There is only truly one word to use when discussing The Expanse’s future: Laconia. Most of season 6’s remaining storylines have some connection to this colony world. We mostly experienced Laconia through the eyes of Cara and her brother Xan, two young people who reside on the planet and see little, canine-like aliens that have the ability to “fix” damaged objects by injecting them with the protomolecule. The narrative as a whole revolves around Cara and Xan, but in order to comprehend it, we must talk about the longer-term prospects for Laconia.

Consul Duarte, High

Winston Duarte, portrayed by Dylan Taylor, was one of the most significant characters we encountered in The Expanse. In the fourth episode of the season, “Redoubt,” when he had a heart-to-heart with Cara during her brother’s wake, Duarte made his acting debut. We observe the strain Duarte has placed on himself to protect the future of mankind.

Duarte rises to the position of High Consul of Laconia, which is equivalent to the country’s emperor, despite holding the rank of Admiral in season 6. To become eternal and lose the need for sleep, he also has the scientist Cortázar (Carlos Gonzalez-Vio) perform a variety of protomolecule experiments on him. Duarte gains extraordinary psychic skills as a result of this.

Xan and Cara

The two kids were escaping into the bush when Cara and Xan were last seen on the television. The alien protomolecule drones had “repaired” Xan. But Cara was still a person. but closed with the mysterious remark that the “dogs” would repair her if she passed away.

This really occurs in the book series; Cara finally perishes after consuming one of the plants on Laconia and is revived.

Those in The Ring

That takes us to the final significant narrative point that The Expanse season 6 left unresolved: the unknown extraterrestrial entity known as the Ring Entities that wiped out the Protomolecule’s creators. The Rocinante crew set off an incident that resulted in the Entities destroying Marco Inaros’ ship as it attempted to travel through the Sol Ring in “Babylon’s Ashes,” which marked their greatest appearance and increased importance throughout the course of the series.

Why Season 7 of The Expanse Was Cancelled on Amazon

Financial constraints were a major factor, according to The Expanse director Naren Shankar, who also explained why season six’s 10 episodes were cut down to six: Alcon Television and Amazon made the choice. You never quite agree on the amount of money you’ll invest in the show’s development. The decision was that. There were just six episodes left to be produced. Everything is, in a way, a negotiation. Were we able to reach ten? Absolutely. Could we complete eight? Certainly. We probably wouldn’t have been able to foresee the season in less time than six months.

Season 7 of The Expanse Might Happen

Given that The Expanse’s seventh season is currently in its momentum phase and that it has virtually established itself as an economically unviable product at both SyFy and Amazon Prime Video, it is impossible to anticipate the show’s future. Accordingly, it’s doubtful that this fantastic sitcom will have any more episodes air on television. The series could alter this.
The reality is supposing that the programme unexpectedly gained a lot more viewers on Amazon Prime Video and that the review analysis led Amazon or other media companies to approve another series.

Has This Science Fiction Program a Future?

It is impossible to predict The Expanse’s future given that SyFy and Amazon Prime Video have essentially demonstrated that the programme is unprofitable as a financial asset. Season 7 of The Expanse is now in its momentum design.

It’s quite unlikely that we’ll see further television programme episodes in light of this. The series suggests that this might or might not be the case. What is certain is that the show’s popularity on Amazon Prime Video exceeded our expectations, and the favourable review ratings persuaded Amazon or other media corporations to approve the second season.

Is There a Chance That the Expanse May Return for a Seventh Season?

The series’ creators, Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck stated in an interview that the show’s conclusion was actually only a pause. At a press conference, Franck stated, “We have what we think is a really appropriate stop point for the tale following season six.” “The tale we’ve been developing over the first five seasons will feel like a gratifying conclusion. Being cancelled is one of the things that I believe has become rather dated.

“This is a talk we’ve been having since we were cancelled the first time,” they stated after explaining the situation. “This six-season storyline was always one of the choices that were on the table when we discussed the many forms the show could take. This is not a situation where we are in a rush.

Season 6 Closing

The series finale, which will be the sixth episode of season 6, will appear on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, January 14, 2022. Around midnight UK time, Amazon Prime Video will release Episode 6, which will last for about 65 minutes. Since this will be the series’ final episode, viewers may anticipate some intense action, breathtaking scenery, and perhaps even a dramatic death to bring the long-running series to a close.
