return to westeros release date

The events of the television show, which is based on Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, take place centuries before those of Game of Thrones. The Dance of the Dragons, intrafamily dispute, and House Targaryen are at their core.

We have gathered all the information we currently have on the upcoming program below, including the entire casting list and the storyline synopsis. That’s only the start, though. Read on to catch up on all House of the Dragon-related information.

The first episode of House of the Dragon will take place around 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It may seem like a long time ago, but the shelved Naomi Watts prequel is much more recent history than what would look like “thousands of years” before Game of Thrones and examine the early history of ancient houses as well as the creation of the White Walkers.

The Release Date for House of the Dragon

Return to Westeros

Viewers may expect political maneuvers similar to those in Game of Thrones portrayed in the prequel series as Westerosi civilizations were still vibrant and volatile during the time covered by House of the Dragon.

Unlike the aborted prequel, which would have more likely concentrated mostly on fantastical aspects, House of the Dragon is based on a novel that is strongly focused on ancestral hierarchies, warring nations, and a great civil war.

That should result in a prequel series with a more Game of Thrones-like vibe, a show that has a similar interest in dragons, the seedier side of society, and the ruling class.

Represented the Targaryen Clan!

Additionally, Olivia Cooke has consented to play Alicent Hightower, while Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy will play Prince Daemon and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, respectively. In George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the book on which House of the Dragon is based, the Targaryen civil war culminates in the Dance of the Dragons, in which the two Targaryen royals play crucial roles.

These characters will play key parts in the events of House of the Dragon given how prominent they are in the novel. They’ll probably be around for numerous seasons. TV series, however, aren’t always faithful to their source texts, as Game of Thrones show.

It’s interesting to see that two of these characters have been cast with young performers. Young Alicent Hightower will be portrayed by Emily Carey, and a younger Rhaenyra Targaryen will be portrayed by Milly Alcock.

House of The Dragon Trailer

The House of the Dragon teaser focuses on fire, blood, plotting, and even a few well-known faces. The Iron Throne heir Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her uncle Daemon are the centers of attention.

However, it appears that Alicent Hightower has ambitions for the position of power.

The House of the Dragon is Set When?

About 300 years before to the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon will have its genesis. The aborted Naomi Watts prequel, which was supposed to take place “thousands of years” before Game of Thrones and examine the early history of old houses as well as the creation of the White Walkers, is much more recent history than what would seem like a long time ago.

For those who are unaware, House Targaryen has a long history of being associated with dragons, dating back to Aegon the Conqueror’s conquest of the seven kingdoms in House of the Dragon.

What is the Tale of the House of the Dragon?

House of the Dragon is based on George RR Martin’s book Fire and Blood, which tells the story of the Targaryen dynasty’s rise and demise as it was documented by a master before the events of Game of Thrones. We have a very solid sense of what to expect from the plot of House of the Dragon because that book has been published for nearly two years.

The commencement of the book takes place after Aegon’s Conquest, which saw the creation of King’s Landing as the global capital and the actual construction of the Iron Throne.

Six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros were successfully brought under the control of Aegon Targaryen I with the aid of his twin sisters Rhaenys and Visenya, as well as their three dragons. The only kingdom to escape untouched was Dorne, which Rhaenys left unharmed after discovering its abandoned castles and its sole residents to be women and children.

Will Any Characters From Game of Thrones Make a Comeback in House of the Dragon?

Most likely unlikely, barring a guest appearance by the Night King or some Children of the Forest. Since the events of Game of Thrones are 200 years in the past, none of the beloved characters would show up in the series.

The Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, and other families that we are better familiar with may, however, be represented by their forebears. Early casting announcements suggested that we could also see the original Westerosi conquistadors Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys Targaryen, however, this hasn’t been confirmed.

Aegon’s ride Balerion the Black Dread, whose skull spent most of Game of Thrones in the dungeons of King’s Landing, and who was “historically” ridden by King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) at one time, is one familiar face that we could see again. Though perhaps this time he has a little more flesh on his bones.
