The Pynk, a fictional strip club in the Mississippi town of Chucalissa, is the setting for this sitcom. GLAAD Media Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, TCA Awards, and NAACP Image Award nominations have all been given to P-Valley.

A two-year hiatus has been announced for P-return Valley to Starz in June 2022. According to Nicholson, in the upcoming season, viewers will get a better sense of Lil Murda’s struggles to stay true to himself while pursuing his lofty ambitions.

A secret love affair between Lil Murda and Uncle Clifford, the proprietor of The Pynk’s trans club, began in Season 1. For as long as Clifford had been willing to keep their relationship private, Lil Murda treated her badly and made fun of her in front of his straight male friends, so Clifford ended things.

Is J. Alphonse Nicholson Gay?

Not at all, the impression that J. Alphonse Nicholson is straight by sexuality does not hold true. However, he portrays a gay character in the P-Valley drama series. The fan base is a little unsure of what to make of him because he does his job so well.

In the first season of P-Valley, Nicholson appeared as Lil’ Murda. As the second season approaches, it has been revealed that his character is gay.

When it comes to portraying the Black experience, P-Valley is a master at highlighting what might be considered mundane or even “low class.” In the case of Lil’ Murda and Uncle Clifford, it’s no different.

Creator Katori Hall has previously stated that she was inspired to create Uncle Clifford by her own experiences growing up in the South as a gay black woman. She wanted to prove that they exist before anything else. That thread continues with Lil’ Murda.

Considering his upbringing in an all-Black community in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the entrenched, normalized homophobia that led people like Lil’ Murda to live in fear and shame was an important part of Nicholson’s preparation for the role.

“‘Undercover’ and ‘DL’ stories are commonplace. They may have been in prison and formed relationships with men, but they may not know how to tell their friends about it when they return.”

Talking it over with his fiancée helped him overcome his initial fear of taking on the role—and then he realized that there was an opportunity. “‘How can we mend these relationships?’ I wondered.

How can I be an ally to all gay people, especially Black men? When these discussions take place in the Black community, we can get to a point where we accept people for who they are, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I’m pleased that it’s sparked discussion.”
However, he is not gay off-screen. Besides that, he is a happily married man with a lovely family.
