Early Life

Guy Fieri was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 22, 1968, but he grew up in Ferndale, California, in Humboldt County, northern California.

They ran a Western-themed clothing shop. When he was a high school student in France for a study-abroad program, he says he was inspired to explore the possibilities of food.

As a Chef

When Fieri was just a kid, he worked as an “Awesome Pretzel” vendor on the side of the road, making extra money for his family. Parker’s Lighthouse, a Long Beach eatery, hired Fieri as manager after he graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Six Louise’s Trattoria restaurant locations later, he had a natural talent for the business. It was only a matter of time before Guy Fieri opened his own eatery. In 1996, he and Steve Gruber opened Johnny Garlics in Santa Rosa, California.
