The crime-drama web series Aarya can now be added to the list of ‘Things That Aren’t Totally Horrible About 2020’. In addition to bringing Sushmita Sen back to the small screen, the show’s nine-episode storyline had viewers binge-watching it all in one sitting.

It is based on the Dutch series Penoza and centers on Aarya (Sen), the heir to a pharmaceutical company whom her husband looks after (Chandrachur Singh). In the wake of a tragic event, she learns that her family’s business had been dealing drugs all along.

The only way to save her family and become a powerful drug lord is for her to take control of the business herself. In the meantime, here are some other shows that you can watch while you wait for the next season to begin airing.

Queen of South

Queen of the South is a must-see if you’re looking for strong female protagonists. If you’re going to survive in the male-dominated world of Aarya, you’re going to have to adapt and make tough business decisions.

Based on the true story of Mallory Chacón, a Guatemalan drug trafficker. When her boyfriend is shot dead by a cartel boss, Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) finds herself in a race against time to flee to the United States. Slowly but surely rising through the ranks of a cartel, she vows to exact revenge on those responsible for his death.

Breaking Bad

There is no better time than right now to begin watching this series, especially since it has become such a cultural phenomenon over the years. In one of the many shows in which the main character is a victim of circumstance and emerges victorious Bryan Cranston plays Walter White, a chemistry teacher who learns he has cancer.

Faced with mounting medical bills, Jesse Pinkman and he join forces to start a methamphetamine-making operation with the help of Pinkman’s former student (Aaron Paul). With rival drug lords and his own family on his tail, he soon finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue and violence.

During the course of his investigation, he begins to reevaluate his own life and his place in the world. A nine-episode series that’s not for the faint of heart, but that will keep you riveted for the duration.

Breathe, starring R Madhavan and Amit Sadh, is based on the story of Aarya, a mother who goes to great lengths to protect her children. Six-year-old Danny (Madhavan) is the sole caregiver for his ill child, who was born with a congenital lung condition.

The doctors tell Danny that his son has only a few months to live unless he receives an organ transplant, and he is left feeling helpless. When it comes to getting a new lung, he believes his son is fourth in line, which isn’t good enough.

As a last resort, he decides to take matters into his own hands and eliminate the three strangers one by one. Enter Kabir (Sadh), an alcoholic cop who notices a pattern in these unrelated deaths and begins investigating.

Amazon Prime Video has it available for viewing.

The Politician

Glee and American Horror Story creators are behind this Netflix original dramedy about a budding politician. Ben Platt plays Payton Hobart, a high school student who dreams of becoming the next President of the United States of America.
