ESPN will air 12 hours of esports including Rocket League, NBA 2K, and Madden

In light of the impending hiatus of major professional sports leagues, ESPN will fill the void in its programming schedule on April 5 with 12 hours of esports coverage, featuring competitions in NBA 2K, Madden NFL 20, and Rocket League.

According to the press release, “ESPN Esports Day” is a 24-hour marathon of esports programming that has aired on ESPN2 over the past calendar year, including both live events and previously recorded programming.

The first three hours of the marathon will consist of previously aired Madden NFL 20 content, such as recaps of the Madden Classic, Club Championship, and Challenge tournaments.

After the Madden segment, there will be a live broadcast of the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix, which will feature actual F1 drivers racing in a virtual environment. Next up is the highly anticipated NBA 2K tournament, which features 16 NBA players competing in a 16-bracket event, and it all kicks off with ESPN2 airing the Season 8 World Championship Grand Finals of Rocket League.

As the final event of ESPN’s esports marathon, the EXP Apex Legends Pro-Am from July 2018 will be shown again.

In the United States, this will be the debut of the Rocket League on ESPN. The North American Grand Finals of the Rocket League Spring Series will be held on April 26, and ESPN2 has confirmed that it will air the event live.

With traditional sports in a precarious position due to the COVID-19 pandemic, esports now have a chance to make a name for themselves internationally. With no more games being played in person, sports fans will need to find other ways to pass the time. Even if some people don’t like competitive gaming, at least ESPN2 is airing it.

The NBA 2K Players Tournament is going to be the biggest bottleneck in this race. Many well-known basketball players are competing in this tournament for a good cause and for the championship.

Next, the EXP Apex Legends Pro-Am will serve as the marathon’s climax. Famous basketball player Devin Booker, along with streamers, musicians, and athletes from the NBA, UFC, and WWE, will all be participating. This lineup, including Rocket League’s premiere, should make for an exciting 12-hour esports marathon.
