Raspberry Pi Generates QR Codes to Unlock Gates and Doors

You can’t possibly be too patient with your home security system anymore. The IoT Lock is an open-table design driven by a Raspberry Pi that generates QR codes for unlocking gates and doors; it was built by a group of Polish students (Slawomir Sojka, Damian Prochaska, Jakub Ciemala, Nikodem Szlauer, Wojciech Drozdzik, and Hubert Wroblewski).

Each QR code can be rendered inoperable at any time without the need for a password or special pen. The success of this endeavor depends on the safety of the Raspberry Pi. It logs everything that happens, so users can keep an eye on things and provide consistent service for anyone using a gate.

The group thinks it would be brilliant to replace conventional hardware with an electronic e-commerce device to handle locking and unlocking doors.

Making use of a web or mobile application, users can produce QR codes to get access to a restricted area (such as a gate or door). A QR code can be sent to whoever needed to use the lock.

When scanned by a QR reader, the codes are decoded and the alarm is disarmed, with the time and date of the incident being saved in a database. It simplifies gaining entry to desired parties and keeping tabs on their doings.

They use a Raspberry Pi, a motion sensor, a CM2D QR scanner, a 12V relay, and an 8GB microSD card to show how their system works. Some of these parts are not flexible enough to be adapted to your project’s specific requirements. Plans are in the works to make the system more efficient and cut costs.

An intuitive graphical user interface makes it simple to configure the system, create QR codes, and monitor access. Both parties utilize QR codes to exchange information and gain entry.
