Early Life

On August 26, 1993, Lauren Keyana Palmer entered this world in Harvey, Illinois. Her Christian parents, Sharon and Larry Palmer met in theatre school.

Her father now works for a polyurethane firm, and her mother is a high school teacher who specializes in helping students who have autism spectrum disorder, although both of them started out in the entertainment industry.

She sang in the church choir when she was a kid. At the beginning of her career, she got her big break by appearing in a show at a popular Chicago attraction. She tried out for a role in The Lion King when she was just nine years old.

Keke played Queen Latifah’s niece in her debut film role, 2004’s “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” Palmer’s record deal with Atlanta Records began in 2005.

She subsequently had guest-starring roles on “ER,” “Knights of the South Bronx,” and “Second Time Around.” In the same year, Palmer was cast as the lead in a pilot for the Disney Channel titled “Keke and Jamal.” Unfortunately, the network ultimately decided against picking up the pilot, therefore the show never made it to screen.
