Joseph Glenn Herbert, better known as Jo Koy, was born on June 2, 1971, in Tacoma, Washington. His father was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in the Philippines when he met and married Koy’s mother, a Filipino who was the manager of a rock band.
After Jo’s parents had divorced when he was 13, his mom took care of him and her other kids by herself. Once he graduated from high school in Tacoma, Washington, his family relocated to Las Vegas. Jo’s ill grandma prompted the family’s relocation to Las Vegas.
