Is She Lesbian?
After revealing her marriage to a woman, actress and comedian Niecy Nash surprised the globe.
The 50-year-old “Claws” and “Reno 911” actor recently married rock/soul musician Jessica Betts and posted a lovely snapshot of the newlyweds on Instagram on Monday along with a brief note.
She signed her name as “Mrs. Carol Denise Betts,” indicating that she would be legally changing her name to Betts after getting married.
The comedian filed for divorce from spouse Jay Tucker in December, and the divorce was completed in March, so her new relationship comes after a long period of singleness.
After being married twice to men—Jay Tucker and Don Nash—recent Nash’s announcement that she was engaged to a woman surprised some of her followers by surprise.
Social media was flooded with messages of support from Nash’s famous pals.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, star of “Modern Family,” sent her congratulations, writing, “So thrilled for you” and attaching a heart and a rainbow emoji. Finally, Sarah Paulson said, “I love you so much.” ‘Congrats @niecynash1!!’ Lena Waithe tweeted. A whole lot of affection is being sent your way.
Jessica performed at Niecy Nash and Jay Tucker’s 2011 Malibu wedding, so the couple already has a bit of a wedding history together.
In an interview with pridesource.com from 2017, Nash discussed her sexual identity and her upbringing in a Christian environment.
Niecy was asked how she was first exposed to the homosexual community, and she said, “Surprisingly, I knew a number of individuals who were gay who went to my church. This repression made them feel terrible.
When questioned about her views on the LGBT community as a Christian who affirms homosexuality, Niecy confidently said, “My belief today is that you may be whatever you want to be. Some people have the mentality that everything needs an explanation, but your truth is your reality regardless of how you want to call it.
And I have no desire to foist a lieful existence on others. That is something even my fiercest enemy wouldn’t want to happen to them. Yes, it might be difficult, but those that really care about you and are by your side will be OK with it.
This is personal for me, and I hesitate to continue talking about it since it would be unfair to focus on that aspect of the narrative. But if there’s one thing I wouldn’t want on anybody, it would be to have to constantly lie to themselves. That’s the most inconceivable thing imaginable.
