Windows 11 2022 Update was just issued by Microsoft. Though it fixes several bugs and adds some new capabilities, the update seems to be creating issues for gaming PCs. Users that upgraded to Windows 11 in 2022 have experienced decreased frame rates, stuttering, and other problems (via Neowin).

It seems that the issues are not hardware related, since some users claimed that the faults disappeared when reverting to an earlier version of Windows 11.

Reddit User ChoPT Outlined the Issues They’ve Seen Since Updating:

“I was seeing significant hiccups in desktop and, more importantly, game performance (this completely broke gsync as well). Randomly drops to 30fps from a maximum of 120fps in testing with light graphics demands.

Stupidly ripping up the screen. It’s not a hardware problem since I have a very strong machine (12700k, 3080 Ti, DDR5 memory), and I have tried disabling all the new graphics options to rule them out. Some element hidden from view under the hood probably caused the problem.”

They noted that after rolling back to a previous version of Windows 11 that the issues stopped.

Multiple individuals have reported difficulties, although it’s unclear how common they are. “As has been said, I’ve been having really noticeable stuttering in video games. When playing games, I now use as little as 5 percent of my CPU “asserted Reddit user Nahthe77.

“I reverted to the previous patch and am having a lot better time in the game now. Instead of upgrading right now, I suggest waiting till they address it.”

Crenneth’s comments mirrored his own. “While playing games, I, too, am experiencing severe stuttering. New computer has been functioning normally up until this update. i9-12900k, 3080ti. Kindly correct this. Gsync. So I did as was instructed and disabled the default settings, but the problem still persists.”

The identical concerns have also been discussed in a topic on the official Microsoft forums (opens in new tab).

It’s very uncommon for users to have issues after upgrading to a new version of Windows, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying for them.
