Timothy John Wroughton Craig’s mother, Carol Olivia (née Williams), was an art teacher, and Craig’s father, Timothy John Wroughton Craig, was a Merchant Navy veteran and the landlord of two pubs in Cheshire.

His older sister’s name is Lea, and she’s a year older than he is. Craig and his sister went to live with their mom in Liverpool when their parents split up. He went to Calday Grange Grammar School for a short time.

Craig’s mother took him to the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, where he saw his first professional performance. But ever since he was six years old, he’d been performing in school productions.

He got into the National Youth Theatre when he was 16 years old.
