After the game was over, Kylian Mbappe went to comfort his club teammate Hakimi, who was a big part of Morocco’s dream run in the World Cup.
Kylian Mbappe was happy that France beat Morocco in the FIFA World Cup semi-final on Thursday, but he didn’t take long to comfort his friend and teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi.
The defending champions beat the Atlas Lions by a score of 2-0, setting up a match between Argentina and the champions. Morocco’s dream run came to an end when left-back Theo Hernandez scored early and Randal Kolo Muani scored late to put France into its fourth World Cup final in seven years.
After the game was over, Mbappe went to comfort his club teammate Hakimi, who was a big part of Morocco’s dream run in the World Cup.
Mbappe and Hakimi gave each other a hug, and then they switched jerseys.
Mbappe later tweeted that Hakimi had made “History” and that everyone was proud of him.
Mbappe tweeted, “Don’t be sad, bro. Everyone is proud of what you did, and you made history.”

Mbappe, who has already scored five goals in the tournament, helped set up both of France’s goals. He dribbled and shot, and the ball was deflected into the path of an unmarked substitute named Kolo Muani, who scored from close range.
Morocco was the first African team to ever make it to a World Cup semifinal. They put up a good fight, and the crowd, which was mostly dressed in red and green, cheered them on.
France made it to the final for the fourth time in seven World Cups. If they win on Sunday at Lusail Stadium, they will be the first team to keep the trophy since Brazil in 1962.
