Alice in Borderland is a 2020 Japanese dystopian science fiction thriller drama streaming television series based on Haro Aso’s manga of the same name. Shinsuke Sato directed the series.
It stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya as allies trapped in an abandoned Tokyo who are forced to compete in dangerous games, the type and difficulty of which are represented by playing cards, in order to extend “visas” that, if not renewed, resulting in the player’s execution by lasers shot from the sky.

‘Alice in Borderland’ Season 2 Ending Explained: How Did They Get There?
As much fun as it was to spend some time with Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), and Chishiya (Nijiro Murakami) in Alice in Borderland Season 2, there was one thing that everyone watching was looking forward to more than the life-or-death games: answers.
While Season 1 provided almost no information about the game makers, Borderland itself, or what the rules are, Season 2 was tasked with finally helping us understand what the hell is going on in the Japanese series. And it did. Sort of.
As much as you enjoy Season 2 of Alice in Borderland – and it is a lot of fun, especially with the new games – you can’t deny that series writer and director Shinsuke Sato stalled us quite a bit before finally spilling the beans. But now we know what the games and Borderland are all about.
As you might expect, the answer is not straightforward. First, we may not have reached the conclusion of the story – if the show is renewed for Season 3, the answers provided in Season 2 may change, and there is plenty of evidence to support that.
However, the final episode of Season 2 also serves as a series finale, and if that’s the case, we have most answers laid out for us, whether we like them or not.
Alice in Borderland Season 2 Plot Synopsis… What is the Plot of Alice in Borderland Season 2?
If you’ve forgotten, Alice in Borderland is set in modern-day Tokyo after an unexplained event wipes out the majority of the city. The remaining survivors are granted visas to remain in this new realm known as Borderland.

When their visas expire, they are laser-shot on sight. The only way to extend a visa and continue to live is to participate in a series of games. Each game has a different card.
Each suit represents a different type of game — Spades represent strength, Clubs represent team battles, Diamonds represent wits, Hearts represent betrayal — and the number represents the level of difficulty. It’s a simple system for a horribly flawed concept.
Last season ended with Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), a former gamer turned the best boy, climbing enthusiast Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), and the rest of the survivors working their way through all of the number cards. That means it’s time to deal with the face cards.
The Cast of Alice in Borderland Season 2
Ryhei Arisu is played by Kento Yamazaki, a 28-year-old Japanese model, and actor. In his native Japan, he is well-known for his roles in films and television dramas such as Death Note, Good Doctor, and Kiss That Kills. Tao Tsuchiya, a 27-year-old Japanese actress, model, dancer, singer, and songwriter, portrays Yuzuha Usagi. Mountain climber Usagi is transported to Tokyo shortly after her father’s death. Tscuchiya has appeared in a number of Japanese films, including The 8-Year Engagement, The Cinderella Addiction, and the television series Rurouni Kenshin.
Season 2 will feature at least six new cast members joining Alice in Borderland. Tomohisa “Yamapi” Yamashita, a former member of the Japanese boy band NEWS, has been cast as Kyuuma Ginji, the King of Clubs.
Yamapi is also a solo artist, but he has been acting in dramas since 1998, and he is best known for his role as Aizawa Kosaku in the medical drama Code Blue.
