Even though the farmhands were wrong, I don’t see how Thorfinn and Einar, who are slaves, won’t be punished for this fight. I think Thorfinn will get the worst punishment because he started the fight. He will probably be whipped.

I don’t know if attacking a free man is punishable by death, but Pater might not kill Thorfinn and Einar if he can prove that the farmhands destroyed their crops. I don’t think Ketil would be happy with his farmhands, either, since he loses money when crops are damaged or destroyed.
