Rep. Kris Jordan died of natural causes on Saturday. He was only 46 years old and well-known in both the House and Senate chambers, where he worked to represent his Delaware County constituents.
Flags at the statehouse, as well as public buildings and grounds throughout Delaware County, were ordered to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of Jordan’s funeral.
“I didn’t think he’d die. I was completely taken aback when I heard the word, “said Delaware Republican Senator Andrew Brenner. “I got word on a Saturday afternoon or early Saturday afternoon, and I immediately called his dad to confirm what happened and natural causes, you know.“
Jordan compared Brenner to a brother. They gave each other political advice and encouraged each other’s advancement.
“He was one of the first people to advocate for the heartbeat bill,” Brenner explained. “He was also one of those who advocated for the repeal of Ohio’s inheritance tax. He advocated for lower taxes and less regulation because he believed that the more money kept in families’ pockets, the better for families, and that is why he did it.”
Jordan began his career at a young age. At the age of 25, he was elected as a county commissioner. He later ran for a position as a state representative.

“He was willing to sit down and talk to anyone and work with anyone,” Brenner said. “But you knew what his political views were, and he was pro-life, very conservative, and pro-second amendment. And he’s just a nice guy. And with that in mind, because you’ve known him since you were kids, you’ve seen him grow.”
