It’s not surprising that The Mandalorian goes into detail about the Mandalorians’ history and culture. And Mandalore is already a place with a lot going on, so it’s paying off. But unlike most episodes, Season 3, Episode 3, “The Convert,” is mostly about other parts of the galaxy.
It’s about Dr. Pershing’s (Omid Abtahi) time on Coruscant, not about a specific Mandalorian. Still, the episode gives a few warriors a chance to show off their skills. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), who bathed in the Living Waters of Mandalore in the last episode, is allowed to go back to his people.
This was thought to be impossible. But he doesn’t go back on his own. Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) is welcomed by the Children of the Watch after she risked her life to save Din on the planet Mandalore and then dove into the Living Waters herself.
This group of Mandalorians doesn’t usually trust people who aren’t from their own people, even if they are from their own people. They stick to the old ways, while Bo-Katan and many other Mandalorians don’t.
Still, they know her even before they hear her name. When the Children of the Watch see her, they call her “Nite Owl.” Let’s dive deep and find out who are Night Owls.
Who Are Night Owls in The Mandalorian?
Bo-Katan is alone now, but that wasn’t always the case. She used to be in charge of an elite group of Mandalorians called the Nite Owls.
The group was made up of female warriors with an owl-like symbol on their helmets, like the one on Bo- Katan’s, but not exactly the same.
Even though every Mandalorian wears a beskar helmet, the Nite Owls are different because of their symbol. The only Mandalorian who doesn’t have decorated armour is Din. The Nite Owls all use grey and blue as their main colours.
Bo-Katan is the most well-known member of the group, but Koska Reeves (Mercedes Moné), who wears the symbol on her helmet, was introduced in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
The group also has Ursa Wren (Sharmila Devar), who is the mother of Sabine Wren, who is the leader of Star Wars: Rebels (Tiya Sircar). Even though there are other Nite Owls on screen, especially in Star Wars: Clone Wars, we don’t know what their names are.
Even though they are anonymous, the Nite Owls get a lot done. It shouldn’t be surprising that the Children of the Watch recognize Bo-Katan as a Nite Owl right away since the Death Watch and the Nite Owls are very close.
The Nite Owls supported Bo-Katan, the leader, and turned away from the Death Watch. The Nite Owls and a few other people who didn’t like the idea of a leader who wasn’t from Mandalore fought Maul and his Death Watch followers.
They were able to free Bo-sister, Katan’s Satine Kryze (Anna Graves), even though they used to be against her because she was a pacifist. But they found out that Maul did it on purpose because he knew Satine would tell his old enemy, Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor).
