Swarm is a story that many people may be able to relate to because it is based on real events. The premise of the show created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers is something that many people who spend time on social media are already familiar with.
The show is about militant fandoms and the dangers they pose. The show is about a music fan named Andrea Greene (or Dre) who is obsessed with a pop star and goes to great lengths to show how much they like them.
It’s a lot about fandoms in the music world, but it’s also a lesson about the bad things that can happen when people like the same thing.

Is Swarm Based on a True Story?
At the beginning of each “Swarm” episode, there is a title card that says, “Any resemblance to real people, living or dead, or real events is on purpose.” Part of the performance is based on an online urban legend that started after the release of Beyoncé’s 2016 album “Lemonade,” which made references to Jay-alleged Z’s extramarital affairs.
“When a certain visual album came out in April 2016, there was a rumor that a girl named Marissa Jackson killed herself because she found out that a certain pop star’s husband was cheating on her,” Nabers told IndieWire last week during a Q&A at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
“Some of my Houstonian friends and I were texting about this, and for two days we thought it was real. The story was quickly disproven, but it stuck with Nabers: “When Donald pitched this idea about a Black woman who is obsessed with a pop star, I said, ‘I know what the pilot is,’ and ran with it.“
Nabers told Entertainment Tonight that other online rumors and real crimes were also used in “Swarm.” “After you see the show and go online, you will see that a lot of it holds up,” he said.
What is the Show Swarm on Amazon Prime Video About?
Swarm is a thriller-comedy about a girl who is obsessed with a pop star and goes too far with it. It stars Dominique Fishback as Dre and Chloe Bailey as her sister Marissa. Dre’s love for Ni’Jah, played by Nirine S. Brown, takes her to dark places.
Even though the show isn’t based on a true story, it’s not all made up. It’s a look at the state of some fandoms and a warning not to take things too far. There are stories about people who follow famous people and try to kill them, so Dre isn’t as far from reality as people would like to think.
