Joker 2 Film Locations: The most anticipated movie by Todd Phillips, Joker: Folie à Deux, has made a lot of noise in the entertainment world, not only because it has a star-studded cast, but also because it is said to be a musical starring Mother Monster.
The second part of Joker will be released on October 4, 2024. Joaquin did talk to Joaquin about making a remake of Joker in October 2019, and Joaquin liked the idea and said he would love to see what the new Joker could do.
In June of 2022, Todd said that he was writing a script for Joker 2 and that Scott Silver was also participating. A few months later, it was said that it would probably be a musical, which is great since Lady Gaga would now be in the major cast.
Zazie Beetz (who plays Sophie Dumond), Brendan Gleeson, Jacob Lofland, Harry Lawtey, and Catherine Keener will also be in Joker: Folie à Deux. The rest of the cast members’ roles haven’t been announced yet, but since the movie will come out next year, we might find out more about them in the next few months.

Where Will Joker 2 Be Filmed?
Although little is known about the DC film, many fans were able to see the cast of Joker 2 on the streets of New York City in April, the same month that filming concluded.
This indicates that filming will most likely occur in the same locations as the first installment.
On December 10, 2022, Todd announced via Instagram that production of Joker: Folie à Deux had commenced. These locations are likely to be included in Joker 2:
- New Jersey and California
The majority of the first film’s significant locations, including the Paramount Theatre, Wayne Hall, and the street sequences, were all shot in Newark, New Jersey.
Since it is known that the second installment will incorporate more CGI, very few scenes will be filmed on location in real-time. Instead of New Jersey, Los Angeles may serve as the backdrop for Joker 2’s urban setting.
- The Bronx Stairs
As soon as Joker was released in theaters, the stairs located between two structures, which were made famous by the first film, became a point of interest.
Before becoming the site of the iconic incident, the Bronx stairs were largely abandoned and infrequently utilized by city residents. Recently, fans were able to observe Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix filming a few sequences for Folie à Deux on Anderson Ave.
- New Jersey’s Essex County Isolation Hospital
The Arkham State Hospital will likely play a larger role in the second Joker film than it did in the first, as the narrative will likely revolve around the asylum more than ever before. Harley Quinn, who was originally Dr. Harleen Quinzel, encounters Joker in the form of his psychiatrist at the asylum.
In March 2023, it was disclosed that the asylum scenes would likely be shot at Essex County Isolation Hospital. This differs from the first installment, which was shot in Brooklyn with Metropolitan Hospital serving as the asylum’s interior.

Why Does New York City Play Gotham in Joker?
Even though Gotham, where Batman and his rogue’s gallery of villains operate, is a fictional city, it is frequently portrayed by a specific city in various continuity, at least for exterior views.
In Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, the city of Gotham was portrayed by Chicago, whereas in the recent blockbuster The Batman, London, Liverpool, and Glasgow were used as stand-ins for Gotham. Despite the fact that Joker is set in Gotham, the New York locations are integral to its tone.
The first Joker was significantly influenced by Martin Scorsese’s early New York-based films, including Taxi Driver (1976) and The King of Comedy (1982).
Joker had to use real-world locations to capture the enchantment of those character studies, which contrasted the interior lives of their characters with the hustle and bustle of New York City’s streets.
