For his part as Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Vin Diesel only had to say three words over and over again. The tree figure can only say “I am Groot” to humans, but Rocket and Thor can understand him and speak “Groot,” the language of his people.
Fans of the MUC and regular viewers who don’t speak the original language only hear those three words every time. Even though it was the same thing, it made Vin Diesel quite wealthy. Between his two big brands, Vin has made $225 million.
Reports say that Vin Diesel, who is best known for his Fast & Furious movies, was paid a lot of money for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in which he plays baby Groot after what happened in Vol. 1.
That’s a lot of money to pay a megastar like Vin Diesel for just three words, but Marvel and Disney had to pay him a lot for Groot’s voice, even though he didn’t actually act in the part and just did voice-overs.
Vin Diesel Has Made a Lot of Money Just by Saying Three Words!
I Am Groot shorts and other projects that use his famous three words have helped Vin Diesel make even more money from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Groot’s character has gone through many changes in the MCU. In the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, he was an adult at first. He then gave his life to help the Guardians. He was replaced, and by the end of the movie, he was a baby Groot, which is what he will be for the rest of the second movie in the series.
In Avengers: Infinity War, he is a teenager and has the attitude of a teenager, which fans saw end in Avengers: Endgame.
It’s a huge arc for one character because they actually go through their whole life. And Vin Diesel is always the one who gives Groot his voice. Vin is known for having a deep voice, but Entertainment Weekly says that not much was done to change his voice for the part of baby Groot.
“Very little, very little,” said James Gunn, the maker of the movie Guardians.
“Well, I guess we do a small bit of processing on a few of our figures, but it’s not much. Most of the song is just Vin’s singing. He can talk much higher than he usually does. He is a real character who can do a lot of different things. I think he’s more than capable of taking on more challenging parts in his career.
Gunn has praised Vin Diesel’s voice work in the past, which shows why the voice actor continues to make millions of dollars per Groot.
Vin Diesel Made $13 Million Per Movie as the Voice of the Groot!
It might seem like an easy way for Vin Diesel to make a lot of money to just walk in, say three words, and leave. But Diesel said that each of those three words means something and that when he says them, he is playing.
Comicbook.com says that Vin Diesel had to say these lines tens of thousands of times to try to sound like Groot in the recording.
Diesel said, “I was really lucky to have a director who was willing to let me take my time and wanted to really get all the nuances of this character.”
“We know that Groot has a fake larynx, so even when he’s saying things other than “I am Groot,” all a new listener or someone who doesn’t understand his words will hear is “I am Groot.” It sounds like he keeps saying his name over and over.”
It is said that the actor went on to make a huge $13 million per film in which Groot featured. Even though saying “I am Groot” might not seem like a $13 million job, it’s clear that Marvel paid Vin a lot of money because of how long it took him to learn the voice-over and because he’s an A-lister in Hollywood. Vin has one of the highest net worths of the Guardians group.
Vin Diesel Still Wants to Play a Live-action Role in the MCU!
Since Vin Diesel likes movies that are part of a series, like Fast & Furious, where he played Dominic Toretto, it’s not surprising that he might be interested in a live-action role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We Got This Covered says that Vin has been looking for a part in the MCU for a long time, and fans wouldn’t mind that one bit!
Fans quickly think of Vin playing Groot again, but he might be interested in a different part. Even though details about who he can play and in which movie is still unclear, it’s clear that he’d be a great addition to the already skilled group of Marvel actors who have brought some of our favorite characters to life on screen.
