IPhone 15 Battery Speculation: The iPhone 15 is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max in mid-September, according to iPhone 15 release date rumors pointing to a September 12 announcement.
Unsurprisingly, there have been a plethora of disclosures and speculations about these phones, including the likely battery sizes and charging speeds for the iPhone 15. While nothing is confirmed at this time, we have a decent idea of what to anticipate.
Keeping all of this in mind, below you will find complete information about the anticipated battery capacities and recharge speeds of each iPhone 15 model, as well as how they compare to their iPhone 14 predecessors.
Apple iPhone 15 Battery!
The most comprehensive iPhone 15 battery disclosure to date indicates this phone will have a 3,877mAh battery, which is 18% larger than the iPhone 14’s 3,220mAh battery. This claim reportedly originates from a Foxconn employee, who would likely know, given that Foxconn is an iPhone manufacturer.
However, this is the only battery capacity disclosure we’ve heard about the iPhone 15 so far, so we’d take this information with a grain of salt.
Nonetheless, if this rumor turns out to be true, and if the iPhone 15 features a chipset that is more efficient than the iPhone 14, we could see significant battery life improvements.
Apple claims that the iPhone 14 can last for up to 20 hours of local video playback, 16 hours of remote video playback, or 80 hours of audio playback, so anticipate the iPhone 15 to offer longer battery life.
This could translate to approximately 24 hours of local video, 19 hours of transmitted video, and 94 hours of audio, based solely on the capacity increase and excluding the chipset change.
There may also be enhancements to charging. According to what we’ve heard, the iPhone 15 will almost surely charge via USB-C (and Apple needs to make this transition soon, at least for EU models).
However, the iPhone 15 may charge quicker than the iPhone 14 in other respects. According to “people familiar with the matter” who spoke with 9to5Mac, at least some iPhone 15 variants will support 35W charging. The maximum charging power of the iPhone X is 20W. They are unsure, however, whether this will apply to all models or only the Pro and Pro Max.
There is a possibility that the iPhone 15 will support wireless reverse charging. This would allow you to use it as a wireless charging surface for devices like an Apple Watch or AirPods. However, we’ve only heard this claim from a single source, and they’ve only stated that Apple is working on the feature, not that it will be included on all iPhone 15 models.
Apple iPhone 15 Plus Battery!
The iPhone 15 Plus may have a 4,912mAh battery, according to the iPhone 15 battery disclosure described previously. Using the same back-of-the-envelope calculations, this would translate to approximately 30 hours of local video playback, 23 hours of streamed video, and 114 hours of audio playback, compared to 26 hours, 20 hours, and 100 hours for the iPhone 14 Plus.
This, however, does not account for the anticipated new chipset (an A16 Bionic rather than an A15 Bionic), which could add additional battery life.
As with the iPhone 15, it’s possible that the iPhone 15 Plus will have 35W charging (up from 20W on the iPhone 14 Plus) and support for wireless reverse charging, but we wouldn’t rely on it. In lieu of the Lightning port, however, it will almost undoubtedly have a USB-C charging port.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Battery!
According to the most prominent iPhone 15 battery disclosure to date, the iPhone 15 Pro will have a 3,650mAh battery, a 14% increase from the iPhone 14 Pro’s 3,200mAh battery.
The iPhone 14 Pro is rated for 23 hours of local video playback, 20 hours of transmitted video playback, and 75 hours of audio playback. Assuming a direct 14% increase to these numbers, the iPhone 15 Pro would offer approximately 26 hours of local video, 23 hours of streamed video, and 85 hours of audio playback.
The iPhone 15 Pro is anticipated to have a more efficient A17 Bionic processor. If anything, the numbers could be even higher.
As with the other iPhone 15 models, we anticipate a USB-C interface, and there’s a good possibility that the iPhone 15 Pro will charge at 35W (compared to approximately 20W for the iPhone 14 Pro), if the above-mentioned charging speed leak is accurate. There is also a minor possibility that it will support wireless charging in reverse.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max Battery!
According to the same source as the other iPhone 15 line battery capacity rumors, the iPhone 15 Pro Max – or iPhone 15 Ultra, as it may be dubbed – will reportedly have a 4,852mAh battery. That’s a 13% increase over the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 4,323mAh battery.
Therefore, this is the shortest percentage increase of all these smartphones, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max would have a slightly smaller battery than the iPhone 15 Plus.
Still, a boost is a boost, and this could make the iPhone 15 Pro Max capable of 32 hours of video playback, 28 hours of streamed video, and 106 hours of audio playback, which is a 12% improvement over the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 29 hours, 25 hours, and 95 hours respectively.
Despite not having the largest battery, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would be the longest-lasting of the new models in the majority of use cases, despite not having the largest battery size. However, it should be noted that these are estimates, so they are unlikely to be completely accurate; especially since the change in chipset will likely affect the life of all four models.
