Invincible Season 2 Episode 1 Recap

In the opening scene of Episode 1, Immortal and Invincible engage in combat in the night sky. Mark responds, “I’ve been hit harder before,” to which Immortal responds, “You’re just as conceited as his father.” Omni-Man appears at the mere mention of the name, and he quickly dispatches his former teammate, ripping off his head and arms before his corpse falls to the ground. Omni-Man quips, “Immortal your way out of that.”

“The Immortal was here for a very long time. Like the desert of the real world in The Matrix, a burned-out city is revealed beneath Omni-Man and Mark. “I thought he’d see the truth… like you did,” Omni-Man exclaims.

Given that the citizens of the city are compelled to repeatedly listen to a terrifying recording of Mark, it seems like a terrible dream. He declares, “You’re going to be a part of the Viltrum Empire,” promising to end world hunger, eradicate cancer, and ensure peace in the end. “It gets worse the more you resist.”
