How to Crop Screenshot on Windows? Try These Quick & Easy Methods in 2023!

Fortunately, there are several ways to crop a picture on your Windows 10 or 11 computer, so you don’t need to use any third-party software. You can crop an existing picture that’s stored on your computer, or you can crop a screenshot.

Let’s examine some methods for cropping a screenshot or image on Windows 10 or Windows 11 systems.

1. Use Paint

You may quickly crop an image with Paint, the most cherished and traditional photo editing program that comes pre-installed on Windows computers. Therefore, if you prefer using Microsoft Paint over other programs, you may use it to crop an image or screenshot on a Windows 11 or 10 computer by following the instructions below:

Using your computer, take a screenshot and paste it into the Paint application. Alternatively, you can choose to Open with by right-clicking on an already-existing image on your computer and cropping it. Select Paint via the menu.
In the Image tool area, click the Select icon.
To choose the region you wish to crop, press and hold the left mouse button while dragging the mouse. Your pick will be surrounded by a dotted rectangle.
To crop the image or screenshot, click the Crop icon located in the Image tool area.
Select the desired file format by clicking File > Save as, then download the cropped image to your Windows computer.

2. Using Paint 3D

On a Windows 10 or 11 computer, you may also crop a picture or screenshot using Paint 3D, the advanced version of Paint. Take these actions:

Open the folder housing the image that you wish to crop. To open the image in the Microsoft Photos app, right-click on it and choose Open with > Photos. Alternatively, access the picture or screenshot you wish to crop by launching the Photos app.
To open the image in the Photos editor, click the Edit image (Pencil) icon. As an alternative, you can launch the image editor by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + E.
A preset Crop tool will be chosen for you. Drag the interior black bars or single bars to choose the region you wish to preserve.
Using the slider at the bottom, you may also use cropping to straighten your image. Alternatively, crop your image using a preset aspect ratio by clicking the Free option.
To download the cropped image, click the Save as copy button at the top if you’re happy with your pick.

4. Using the Snipping Tool

To use the Snipping tool screenshot mode, press the keyboard shortcut Windows + Shift + S.
