Richard Siegfried “Mörtel” Lugner was an Austrian entrepreneur in the construction sector, a prominent figure in Viennese society, and a political candidate with no affiliation to any Austrian political parties.

Simone Reiländer, who married Austrian billionaire Richard Lugner just over two months before his passing, is commemorating her late husband.

On Monday, August 12, Reiländer, 42, paid tribute to Lugner with a touching Instagram post showcasing a portrait of the late businessman, who died earlier that day at the age of 91.

“You were the dream of my life,” she wrote in a translated German language message. “And when I saw you shine at the sight of me, then I knew that I was yours too. In Love 🖤.”

He wed Reiländer, 42, on June 1, just under two months before his death.

The ceremony took place at Vienna City Hall, attended by 50 guests and 30 members of the press.

Despite their nearly 50-year age gap, Reiländer highlighted their vibrant intimate life, telling reporters after the wedding that they “had a wedding night that lasted longer than the wedding day itself.”

The construction tycoon, who launched Lugner City, Austria’s seventh-largest shopping center, in 1990, also ventured into politics, running for Austrian president in 1998 and again in 2016.
Lugner became widely known for hosting the Vienna Opera Ball, an annual event that drew high-profile guests, many of whom he paid to attend.
In 2014, he paid $500,000 for Kim Kardashian to be his guest, and in 2010, he spent $150,000 on Lindsay Lohan to attend the event.

Among the other notable attendees at his events were Priscilla Presley, Sophia Loren, Goldie Hawn, Geri Halliwell, Paris Hilton, Joan Collins, Pamela Anderson, and Jane Fonda.

He is survived by four children from three prior relationships: Alexander, Andreas, Nadin, and Jacqueline.

Reiländer is expected to take over the family business, which Lugner had indicated in a previous interview she had already begun managing.

“My wife wears the pants now. She should support me actively. From now on, we will share my work,” he said, calling her the “sole boss” of his empire.
