WhatsApp Rolls out Big Privacy Update for Android Users

Earlier today, WhatsApp announced the release of a new privacy option for its users. Among the most significant changes to the messaging software is the option to conceal your online status during conversations. In the Signal app, this privacy feature is already included.

WhatsApp currently lacks some privacy features, such as the ability to block screenshots and an anonymous keypad. But it’s slowly being integrated into its messaging software to provide users with greater options for managing their own privacy.

You may now adjust your WhatsApp settings to prevent your contacts from seeing when you are online or using the service. If you don’t want your friends to know when you’re online, switch off the Online Status option for them. You may find the most recent information in the same place as the Last Seen function.

However, there is a drawback to this feature, as there is to every feature. The most recent WhatsApp privacy update has made it harder for users to tell if they’ve been blocked. If a user hides their Online, Profile Photo, and Status from others under the Privacy settings of the program, it will be impossible to tell if they are blocked.

There is now only one way for users to see if they have been blocked. If there are two green checkmarks next to each other in the chat, your message was sent successfully and you are not being blocked. There is always a potential that the person is offline and unable to receive your WhatsApp message.

Without mobile data, the recipient won’t get your message and the conversation will only show one check mark. When a recipient turns on their computer, the chat will show two green checks if they haven’t blocked you.

The updated WhatsApp function is now available for widespread use. Learn all the ins and outs of keeping your online identity a secret by reading this comprehensive guide.
