The first three and a half seasons of the popular television series “Pretty Little Liars” focus around trying to find the reality of one question: who killed Ally in Pretty Little Liars?. After Alison’s disappearance in the summer after her freshman year of high school, her friends Spencer, Emily, Hanna, and Aria mourned her absence.
They became separated after her abduction, only to reunite at the onset of their junior year upon the discovery of Alison’s death interred beneath her parents’ gazebo. The girls began to receive menacing messages and endure harassment from an enigmatic, malicious entity referred to as “A.”
As Alison’s murder investigation compromises the exposure of every secret in Rosewood and A looms ominously, Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Hanna dedicate a year and a half (equivalent to three and a half seasons of “Pretty Little Liars”) to uncovering the truth behind Alison’s fate and revealing the identity of the individual known solely as A.
Amidst numerous activities, it is simple to forget who performed which actions and at what time. Fortunately, Alison’s murder mystery is resolved well before the conclusion of “Pretty Little Liars.” This is the factual account of events.
What Happened to Alison in Pretty Little Liars?
Season 2, Episode 13 of “Pretty Little Liars,” titled “The First Secret,” shows the reasons for Alison’s behavior before her demise and reveals some of the secrets she hid from those around her. In the episode, it is revealed that Alison was A’s initial victim; she received messages and texts from A prior to any of the others.
Through the fragments of narrative that the deceivers continue to unearth via antiquated notes, archival films, and acquaintances of Alison prior to her vanishing, it becomes evident that Alison was diligently attempting to ascertain A’s identity before her disappearance. A was, in fact, the unpopular and resentful student Mona Vanderwaal.
Mona, identified as A at the conclusion of “Pretty Little Liars” Season 2, endeavored to murder Alison during her sleepover with the other girls, but inadvertently struck another individual with a shovel. Alison remains injured due to another individual’s actions and is found by Mona, who cares for her at a nearby motel.
Mona assists Alison in escaping Rosewood before to another assassination attempt, while Alison remains oblivious to the fact that she has inadvertently fulfilled A’s desires. Alison remained in hiding while her friends and relatives believed she was abducted and subsequently deceased.
The revelation of their friend’s survival astonishes the girls, albeit it is less surprising to any observant spectator who has noted the clues from the outset.
Who Killed Ally in Pretty Little Liars Season 1?
The short answer to this question is, certainly, no one! Throughout the first three seasons, the liars formed various ideas about Alison’s murder at various points.
Initially, they suspected that the perpetrator might be Ian, Melissa’s inconsistent boyfriend, widely regarded as the most dysfunctional relationship in “Pretty Little Liars,” who clandestinely recorded the girls and engaged in flirtation with both Spencer and Alison.
They regarded Melissa, who discovered the relationship between Ian and Alison and was quite displeased. They speculated that Alison’s brother Jason, originally portrayed by Parker Bagley and later by Drew Van Acker—much to the chagrin of several fans—might have harmed her in a fit of wrath.
Additionally, they contemplated the possibility that Ezra was responsible for her death after discovering that he had encountered her prior to her demise. At a certain juncture in Season 3, the girls nearly become persuaded that Byron, Aria’s father, murdered Alison following her threat to reveal his infidelity.
Fortunately for them, none of these speculations were accurate, as Alison was never deceased. Alison’s estranged sister, Charlotte, inadvertently struck her in the back of the head with a shovel, having mistaken her for another girl dressed similarly.
Their mother, upon observing this, attempted to shield Charlotte by interring Alison, unaware that she was still alive. Alison was saved by a seer named Mrs. Grunwald and clandestinely departed the village with assistance from Mona, who she was unaware was truly A.
Who Died the Night Alison Went Missing?
Alison has a sibling named Charlotte, originally named Charles at birth, who later transitioned from male to female. Alison’s father insisted that Charlotte be isolated from the family and confined to Radley Sanitarium, however her mother cherished her equally and frequently provided her with same clothing and presents that she purchased for Alison.
Charlotte’s acquaintance at Radley, Bethany, opted to borrow one of her ensembles and accompany Charlotte on the night Alison disappeared. Regrettably, the ensemble Bethany borrowed closely resembled Alison’s attire that evening.
Due to Alison and Bethany donning identical attire and resembling each other sufficiently to seem like one individual in the darkness, Charlotte mistakenly struck Alison on the head with a rock, assuming she was Bethany.
Ironically, Charlotte acted thus because Bethany intended to injure Alison that evening. Alison survived her head injury, but Bethany was also assaulted that night by Mona, who erroneously identified her as Alison.
Mona struck Bethany on the back of the head with a shovel and abandoned her, presumed dead. Melissa discovered the unconscious body and, convinced that Spencer had assaulted her, killed Bethany by interring her alive, mistakenly identifying Bethany as Alison.
