Outer Banks Season 1 and 2 Recap

It’s about a family who wishes to get away from their past and is situated in a coastal community on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

In the first season, John B. (Chase Stokes) is convinced that his father’s disappearance isn’t an accident, and as he and his friends (dubbed the Pogues) dig further into the sea to uncover the truth, they realize they aren’t the only ones looking for answers. They come across a legendary treasure tied to John B’s father along the journey.

The treasure hunt continues in the second season of the show, and we watch how Sarah and John B survive their bumpy voyage and finally get their happily ever after, but wait, the narrative is far from done.

At the end of the second season, we learn that John B’s father, whom everyone assumed was dead, is actually alive and hiding out in Barbados – and Carla Limbrey (Elizabeth Mitchell) is currently the only one who knows he’s alive.

Outer Banks Seasons 1 and 2 each included ten episodes, ranging in length from 42 to 61 minutes. Seasons 1 and 2 are available only on Netflix.

Outer Banks Season 3 Plot

Outer Banks Season 4 Release Date

The season two finale of Outer Banks was, to say the least, unexpected.

Sarah and John B had been on a journey for the treasure throughout the series, eventually reconnecting with the rest of the Pogues in Charlotte. Ward, Rafe, and newcomer Carla were all avoided by the gang (murder is never far away from these bunch!)

During a spectacular run-in on a cargo ship, the Pogues had lost their recently acquired gold cross to – you guessed it – Sarah’s family, the Camerons. The gang narrowly escaped death (again) before jumping ship (literally) and landing on a barren island.

Carla was on her way to meet with John B’s father(!) at the end of the season, whom many had assumed was dead – but evidently, he isn’t! He promised to assist her to find the Shroud of Turin (the miraculous healing fabric that was supposed to be hidden in the gold cross), but she had to aid John B and his pals in return.

If a third season is ordered, we can anticipate this hunt to continue, with fans wondering if John B will ever see his plainly breathing father again.

Entertainment Weekly quoted Pate as saying: “The bond between John B and his father is a major theme. Having his father return, and knowing that they’ll eventually meet again, John B must reconcile his idealized vision of his dead father with the reality of his alive father.”
