Queen of The South Series Finale: Is Teresa Mendoza Dead in Queen of The South?

M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller created the American crime drama television series Queen of the South. USA Network aired 62 episodes of the series beginning on June 23, 2016, and ending on June 9, 2021. Telemundo’s sister network Telemundo airs a telenovela based on Arturo Pérez-novel Reverte’s La Reina del Sur; both are based on the novel.

On the 29th of August of this year, the show was given a fifth season order. After COVID-19 forced a halt to production of the next season on March 14, 2020, production resumed in the fall of 2020.

Announcing the fifth season premiere date on March 8th, 2021, it was stated that it would be the series’ final season. After five seasons and 62 episodes, “Queen of the South” came to a conclusion on June 9th, 2021.

It is implied that Teresa had died in episode 9, yet it is later discovered that she is still alive.

The murder of Teresa in Queen of the South has been teased since the series’ very first episode, and it looks like the cartel queen is killed off in episode 9 of season 5 in this episode.

A few moments after proclaiming his love for her in the episode, it is revealed that James shot Teresa.

Fans will be heartbroken to see Teresa’s body lying in a mortuary in the promo clip for episode 10, which suggests that her demise is all but guaranteed.

Fans of Queen of the South were left wondering if Teresa’s death was a deception and whether she would make a dramatic return in the show’s last episode.

Teresa was proven to be alive and well in episode 10 when she was found living in an exquisite seaside mansion.

Fans Comment on Episode Nine

The episode 9 cliffhanger left many Queen of the South fans stunned, and many took to social media to express their feelings.

“Now why James took out my girl Teresa like that,” commented one Twitter follower. Why what the f*** going on here? Queen of the South’s upcoming episode must either feature Teresa’s survival or someone else’s demise like Lafayette’s.

As for Teresa’s death, “Queen of the South has me irritated with that episode,” said another. Teresa will not be going out like this. In the episode prior to the season finale, they wouldn’t offer the main character a 30-second death scene. Who knows what the future holds?”

“Teresa is a survivor, I don’t believe we’ll be without Teresa in the final episode,” said one admirer. Teresa is supreme in the South! Teresa’s story doesn’t finish this way for me.
