At a Press Conference, Brittney Griner’s Wife Requests that She Be Released!

Brittney Griner’s friends, family, and fans are battling to bring her back. Chicago hosted a news conference on Friday to demand the athlete’s return.

Speaking at the event were Cherelle, Brittney’s wife, Nneka Ogwumike, President of the WNBA players’ association, Rev. Al Sharpton, Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm, and Terri Jackson, a union organizer, according to Sports Illustrated.

Brittney, 31, “is an American hero,” according to Los Angeles Sparks forward Ogwumike. She is yours and ours, and we need to get her home, she continued.

Cherelle, who has made it clear that she won’t be silent until her wife is home, said she recognizes that the situation makes the government’s efforts “extremely tough.”

So I want to be very clear that our next step as BG’s supporters is to ensure that the administration knows that they have our full support in doing whatever is required to be able to get BG home as well as any other American who has been unlawfully held, she said.

President Joe Biden called Cherelle earlier this week to reassure her of the government’s efforts to return the WNBA star to the United States.

At the conference, Cherelle remarked, “I believe every word that she spoke to him, he comprehended and he views her as a person. In reference to the handwritten note Brittney sent to Biden on Monday, she continued, “And he has not forgotten her, which was the biggest cry in her letter.”

I’m grateful and I’m thankful that the administration, which BG first voted for, took the time to see her as a person, to see her in the midst of what she’s going through, and to speak to me directly and let her know that they are making every effort to get her home, Cherelle concluded.

Brittney, a two-time Olympic gold winner, was detained in February at Russia’s Sheremetyevo International Airport after it was claimed that officials discovered hash oil-containing vape cartridges in her luggage.

Brittney is being “transported in vehicles too small for her frame,” according to Rev. Al Sharpton, who just conducted an interview with Cherelle on his program. Sharpton continued, “I’m also “in a location where the majority of the locals cannot understand her language. Given that the offense we’re discussing was a serious one, I believe she has already served a substantial amount of time.”

In her own words, Jackson added, “BG has taken the blame and now it is time — beyond time — for this to come to a close.” As a global athlete community made up of pals from other nations, Bird continued, “Sport’s sanctity is vital, and we all feel shaken by this and simply want her home.”

As they continued to call for the player’s release, Cherelle, teammates, and supporters held a “Bring BG Home” rally on Wednesday at the WNBA team’s Footprint Center in the heart of Phoenix. Many attendees wore “We are BG” t-shirts.

Cherelle also voiced her displeasure with the way the legal system had been handling Griner’s case ever since she had been imprisoned.

She informed the crowd, “What and how I feel tonight is a deeper emotion than hurt.

” “I feel irritated. I’m angry that my wife hasn’t been able to contact me, our family, or our friends for 140 days. I’m disappointed that my wife won’t receive justice. I am aware of your frustration.

You are here for that reason.”

Prior to entering a guilty plea on Thursday to accusations of importing drugs into Russia, Griner participated in the Phoenix event, according to NPR.

The WNBA player admitted to bringing cannabis goods into the country, which is against the law, but claimed she made the mistake “inadvertently” because she was rushing to pack.

“Please accept my guilty plea, your honor.

But no intention was present. I wanted to avoid breaking the law, “According to Reuters, Griner, who conspicuously held up a photo of herself and her wife Cherelle as she entered the courtroom, said.

“Later, I’d like to offer my testimony. I require time to get ready “Added her. Griner could spend up to 10 years behind bars. Griner admitted guilt, but the trial is still anticipated to go on for a few weeks or months. The trial for Brittney will end on July 14.
