Johnny Depp is Selling Hand-painted Portraits of Heath Ledger and Bob Marley for Thousands of Dollars!
A London gallery is selling for thousands of dollars a collection of silk-screen prints painted by Johnny Depp of public figures including Heath Ledger and Bob Marley.
The four-piece collection, titled “Friends & Heroes II” and signed by Depp, is available from Castle Fine Art for £17,500 ($21,000) and includes portraits of Heath Ledger, Bob Marley, River Phoenix, and Hunter S. Thompson.
Individual portraits were also available for $5,400 each when they went on sale two weeks ago, but all 780 prints have since sold out.
The description on Castle Fine Art’s website states, “Each image is an intimate reflection of their character in Johnny’s eyes; a portrait of how they have revealed themselves to him.”
Working from photographic references, each image has been reduced to a simpler and more iconic depiction of the subject, which Johnny has refined and enlivened with his signature freehand flourishes.

Last year, another collection of signed prints by Johnny Depp, titled “Friends & Heroes” and featuring Keith Richards, Al Pacino, Bob Dylan, and Elizabeth Taylor, sold out at $4,740 each.
Under his artist profile on the gallery’s website, it is stated that Depp was born in Kentucky, attended Miramar High School in Florida, and has won multiple awards, including the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Icon and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
As an actor, Depp is known for his dedication to character development and extensive research, according to his website biography.
“He is a natural student of human behavior, observing, translating, and incorporating the qualities he observes in others into the tapestry of the persona he is creating.
This has resulted in razor-sharp powers of observation and the ability to recognize and exploit the most subtle nuances.”
“He has employed this talent in his visual art, employing it to create a genuine authenticity and depth in portraits of those who have become the most significant figures in his life, those who have influenced and inspired him.
A closer look at his portraits reveals the characteristics that Depp felt his subjects revealed most vividly to him or that he recalls most vividly when recalling times spent together.”
Depp is attempting to revive his acting career after two high-profile legal battles with his ex-wife Amber Heard, who publicly accused him of domestic violence.
After losing a libel battle in the United Kingdom against British tabloid The Sun, which referred to him in a column as a “wife beater,” he won a second libel trial against Heard in Virginia last year.
Al Pacino will produce Depp’s upcoming film, a biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani that he will direct for the first time in 25 years.
