Lil Yachty is the stage name of Miles Parks McCollum, a rapper, singer, and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia.
The songs “One Night” and “Minnesota” (with Quavo, Skippa Da Flippa, and Young Thug) from McCollum’s debut EP Summer Songs first won him online fame in 2015. Lil Boat, his debut mixtape, was released in March of this year.
His new record deal with Motown, Capitol, and Quality Control Music (QCM) was revealed in June of that year.
Yachty debuted in 2017 with Teenage Emotions, the first of his four studio albums. Lil Boat 2 and Nuthin’ 2 Prove, his second and third studio albums, were released in 2018, and Lil Boat 3, his most recent album, was published on May 29, 2020.
Lil Boat 2 was his highest-charting album, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200. Throughout his career, Yachty has also released a number of mixtapes and EPs. Additionally, Lil Yachty is notable for his appearances on DRAM and Kyle’s multi-platinum hits, “Broccoli” and “ISpy.” His contribution on “Broccoli” has been nominated for a Grammy Award.
Early Years
Mableton, Georgia, is the place of Miles McCollum’s birth. In the fall of 2015, he enrolled at Alabama State University but quickly left to pursue a career in music.
He changed his identity to “Lil Yachty” and relocated from Atlanta to New York City in order to begin a successful music career.
