During the about 30-minute show on Sunday, stars like American actor Morgan Freeman and Korean pop star Jungkook took the stage. The show was put on by Olympic ceremony veteran Marco Balich.
Freeman’s speech, which seemed to be lip-synced, had the charismatic tones that are typical of him.

On the first day of June in 1937, Morgan Freeman was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born to a teacher, Mamie Edna, and a barber, Morgan Porterfield Freeman, who died in 1961 from cirrhosis. He is the youngest of four children. DNA testing showed that some of his ancestors were from the Songhai and Tuareg people of Niger.
Some of Freeman’s great-great-grandparents came to Mississippi from North Carolina as slaves. Freeman later found out that his Caucasian maternal great-great-grandfather lived with and was buried next to his African-American maternal great-great-grandmother in the segregated South, where the two could not legally marry at the time.
The DNA test showed that about one-quarter of his African ancestors came from the area between Senegal and Liberia, and the other three-quarters came from the Congo-Angola region.
When Freeman was a baby, he was sent to live with his father’s mother in Charleston, Mississippi. During his childhood, he moved around a lot. He lived in Greenwood, Mississippi, Gary, Indiana, and then Chicago, Illinois. Freeman got pneumonia when he was only 16 years old. At the age of nine, he played the main character in a school play.
Then, he went to Greenwood, Mississippi, to go to Broad Street High School. Today, that building is used as Threadgill Elementary School. At age 12, he won a statewide drama competition. As he got used to school, he found music and theatre.
Freeman finished high school in 1955, but instead of going to Jackson State University to study drama, where he was offered a partial scholarship, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a repairman for Automatic Tracking Radar and got promoted to airman first class. From 1955 to 1959, he was in the military.
After that, he moved to Los Angeles, California, and took acting classes at the Pasadena Playhouse. He also took theatre arts classes at Los Angeles City College, where a teacher encouraged him to start dancing professionally.
